number plate

hi, getting a front mount intercooler fitted, is it legal to fit a smaller number plate at the front or will i just get pulled all the time?

Is the car an import? if so i think you can get motorbike sized letters but that's all.

Expect plenty of pulls i would say!

If it's an import and not subject to European whole vehicle type approval, then you can get away with characters of 64mm height.

Yes that's correct.
I had my car plates made up to those specs. I've only been pulled about 5 times for it (about once a year), and always by the local bobbies and not Traffic cops.
Last time it happened, I was parked outside a takeaway (Sat. night, at pub closing time) when I saw two beat bobbies looking over the car. Within a couple of minutes there were two police cars, and 6 policemen there. They couldn't care less that I was parked on a yellow line, they were only concerned about the small plates. I just let them get on with the lecture on the dangers of illegal number plates. When he started writing out the ticket however, I produced a printout of the regulations. They went away red faced but better educated.
