slasherkill 29 September 2008 11:04 PM

CDB and DCCD ?

dbrad 30 September 2008 06:07 AM

CDB but no DCCD

The original GC8C4ED 555 sti did not have dccd the wrx sti ra (non 555) did have dccd see here.

slipstream_uk 30 September 2008 08:13 AM

If you can afford to, I would keep it for a bit longer. The market is dead at the moment to get the asking price your looking for.

There is an original 555 for sale in my town, the bloke cant even shift it. The car is in near mint condition and only asking £2500 for it.

Anyway good luck on the sale and free bump for you.

I would double check the bit about the closed deck block as mines doesnt have one. Check for hatch markings on the block behind the alternator belt.

slasherkill 30 September 2008 04:04 PM

No DCCD, damn...

dbrad 30 September 2008 07:59 PM

checked and it does have the cdb

"This car was built by Subaru Technica International in Japan to celebrate the 1996 WRC championship win with Colin Mcrae at the wheel of the WRC car. There are so many cars out there that claim to be a 555 model but are not, this is the one in original condition bar a couple of bits that I am currently trying to put right i.e carbon dash trim returned to original and correct alloy wheels."

there is a slight problem there!

its a N reg v2 which makes it a 1995 car! not 96

that car is a v2 wrx STI

not sti 555 !

it should have a red badge and redtop engine does it?

sti embossed on stering wheel ?

folding electric mirros and ic water spray ?

maybe some pics of engine bay would help

also pics of dash stering wheel would help

Colin McRae won the drivers' world championship in 1995 not 96 as stated!

What makes you say its a wrx and not sti? The model code suggests an sti does it not? What red badge? Do they not have a Nardi steering wheels?

555wrxra 24 October 2008 05:23 PM

i am not denying it has a sti vin plate, or that its a sti really but a 555 i am! easy enough to change vin plate tough!

THIS IS THE CODE IT SHOULD HAVE IF ITS A REAL 555

WRX STi Version 2 555
GF8C58D
62C
EJ20G DW4NE
260
Manual
TY752VB3FA
Special edition

if its a GENUINE 555 it will have a limited number like 236/1000

or if it was the mcrae se 236/555 but we know its not a mcrae se

what i am saying is if its a 555 sti it should have a nardi steering wheel and on the centre section at the bottom have sti cut into it!

also nardi gear knob!

it should also have a red front badge to indicate its a redtop sti!

the engine should be a redtop closed deck block

with i/c water spray!

would also have folding electric mirrors

as no pictures of engine or dash are here i am just wondering how genuine the GENUINE 555 STI really is!

maybe some engine pics and dash board pics would help!

oh btw this might help

"...the special edition WRX V-Limited was launched to commemorate the success of Subaru and Colin McRae in the WRC series. Going on sale from 1st February 1996, the V-Limited came in two guises: standard 2,555,000 Yen trim (with the normal WRX providing the starting point) or, for 268,000 Yen more, a model based on the Type RA STi for serious enthusiasts.

The 260bhp WRX V-Limited was restricted to 1000 units, with a serial number allocated to each car, printed on an aluminium plaque. Special features included gold-painted STi 5-spoke alloys, ABS brakes, green-tinted glass, and an FIA Approved emblem on the tail (stating that Subaru was 1995 World Rally Champion) with the same roundel carried over to the back of the STi seats (the door trim was revised to suit the black/grey upholstery). This model was available in Sports Blue, Feather White or Mica Black."

555wrxra 24 October 2008 05:48 PM

if this is a 555 sti then mine must also be one as i have same engine code!

the engine code imo indicates its a sti not that its a 555

i dont want to slag car of its a real nice car!

i am just saying that its not a 555

GOOD LUCK WITH SALE !

winker 25 October 2008 04:52 PM

Oh dear,

First off, your car is white ...not 53C blue, the colour of the ltd edition 555.

It will have an STi code ...it's an STi ltd edition!

V2 STi's do not have red manifolds as standard

McRae won the championship in '95 in L555 BAT ...in '96 he ran N1 WRC ...& didn't win

This link might help ;)

ok do some home work!

first of the link you have posted clearly shows a v2 with side intake turbo with redtop engine the car in the pic as title says is a v2 wrx sti,

also if you look at my original post with the subaru engine codes it shows what engine code a 555 has it is not GC8 43D that is a sti code the 555 should have GF8C58D

also the ony 555,s that are in the blue you state are the uk mcrae se and there wher 555 554 of them made number 13 was never made!

v- limited 555 edition jdm cars came in blue white and red

look at the vin plate at the top of this link !!

Just for the record:

The STI V2 555 has a model code of GC8C4ED.

The 555 is not a Type-RA, or a V-Ltd.

It does have a red top engine. The STI v1 was the version that didn't.

The 555 has a roof vent and I/C water spray. It doesn't have DCCD or ABS.

I have a genuine STI v2 555 in the garage (complete with the original 555 mud flaps and 16" STI-badged Speedline wheels) if anyone needs me to check and confirm any other details.

AndyC_772 09 November 2008 01:19 PM

ps. if anyone's still unclear, the original Subaru brochure is at http://www.type-ra.co.uk/MY96_STi.pdf

What's a UK Mcrae got to do with this thread? ...a special edition Turbo 2000 that was blue mica ...NOT 53C BLUE!

& when you state that you can get V2 555's in white & red ...put your money where your bl00dy mouth is & post some links!

Otherwise post up an apology & stop trashing this guys thread with your misinformed twaddle ...because so far you haven't posted a single piece of information that's correct!
