Spiders

I find myself unable to sit in my chair with my feet on the floor, due to this being the season that bloody great big spiders decide to move indoors and run across the floor at night. I keep putting them out of my misery (quickly and painlessly by means of slipper) but there's always another the very next night.

Imagine if I let them all live!:freak3:

The Dogs B******s 18 September 2008 08:34 PM

I dont really like them, but never kill them. Not like my lass, who just hits them with anything she can get hold of.

MiniShaz 18 September 2008 08:40 PM

I really don't like killing them either, as I'm a big softie when it comes to all of nature's creatures, but I wouldn't be able to relax with it still around - knowing my luck it would appear on my shoulder in the middle of Corrie and give me a coronary!

I have put a glass over one before and left it for 2 days till my boyfriend came round!

yoza 18 September 2008 08:44 PM

Huge one in Liverpool a couple of weeks back.......yuck.

Me dont like spiders.

I park my truck between a fence and a bush at my house and most mornings at 0530 some big feck off spider leaves a web line from the fence or bush to my wing mirror to pi55 me off...I react every time like a man with his head on fire.

I have started waving my arms about before reaching the truck to try and break the line before I get it in the face, it must look rather strange a bit like a blind man trying to feel for his door handle.

Why are the feckers attracted to wing mirrors?

And why are they so stupid, if I was to build a web on someones wing mirror only to get it destroyed each morning I would feck off somewhere else, this ba5tard wont though.

Scoobychick 18 September 2008 08:44 PM

I despise them from the very bottom of my soul but I can't kill them as I'm too scared. It annoys me immensely that I'm so scared of them as I realise that it's a completely irrational fear but I can't seem to get a grip on it.

We live in a really old cottage by a beck so the place is teeming with the buggers, huge hairy, fat bodied, long legged types with fangs dripping with blood and Uzis under their arms ;)

Anyway, it's a rare day that goes by without one of the little buggers dropping by to say hello, they're often in the sink in the kitchen so I never leave the bowl in there at night just in case one is hiding under it in the morning. Just thinking about them is making my hair stand on end

I need counselling

Here's the little fellow I found crawling on my shoulder at work a few months back, I'd just taken a delivery in so he musta fell off the roller door on to me! He is a money spider, brought me 10p! ;) :D

I actually have a huge spiders web in all four corners of the room where my computer is. I haven't seen the spider, but it keeps down the flies during the summer.

I do wonder where it hides though ...

My mrs is worse than me! I have to catch them for her otherwise she won't stay in the room. We've been really lucky this year I haven't seen one big one inside yet. We need a frosty night to kill a load of them off!!!!

MiniShaz 18 September 2008 09:03 PM

Just looking at that piccie has made my scalp crawl! Eeeeeek!

Jamie 18 September 2008 09:03 PM

Personally I prefer spiders to the flies that they eat!

Can't stand flies. Love spiders :D

On a lighter note, my brave poochie has just seen off Thursday night spider. :thumb: Not quite as quick and painless as the slipper death I'm guessing

One of the eight-legged reasons why we're emigrating to Canada and not Australia.

The type of person who sees a sign saying 'wet paint' but touches anyway, just to see if it really is wet! ;) :D

Wenker Man 18 September 2008 09:45 PM

They live in my en-suite bath (rarely used - prefer showers).

I don't know how they get in there as I never see them anywhere else.

I guess the builders may have forgot to put in a U-bend, as its a bungalow and may have not enough fall on the pipe to fit one. I put bleach down there and keep the plug in, but they still get in there. I need to block off the overflow somehow.

Strange thing is, once in the bath, they never leave, so I've given up cleaning it out. At the moment its a bit like thunderdome, sometimes I get two or three of them at the same time. And they kill each other, last night I had three of them, this morning there is one small one still alive and two dead large ones. Who knows what I'll find tomorrow, maybe I should setup a webcam? Hmmm.

Yep you can but it's unlikely

Tam the bam 18 September 2008 09:46 PM

MiniShaz 18 September 2008 09:49 PM

I'd need a bloody big slipper for that one! Maybe one of those heated ones you put both feet in.

Torquemada 18 September 2008 10:00 PM

Eeewww! Great! Now I'm gonna end up spending around the next six hours thinking every itch I get is a spider crawling on my skin, happens every time I watch Arachnophobia or sommat :lol1:
Sods law is, when I decide not to scratch or check an intch, it's invariably some 'massive' spider that turns me into a screaming pansy, lol :o :lol1:

MiniShaz 18 September 2008 10:05 PM

There is a harvest spider in the corner of my bedroom, and I leave him there cos he's not thick and black and running around. He's quite big but thin and spindle-y if you get me, and doesn't go far from his corner.

Mind you, it'll be different if he's missing when I go up - I may sleep in the spare room.

Yeah, don't mind them spindly ones so much, unless they are six inches from my face when I wake up, like the other day  pmsl
