Anti slip flooring, can you slip on it?
 

This is going to sound really daft but is it possible to slip on an anti slip floor? Say even if the flooring is rain soaked?

I take it non slip is different to anti slip as some places that advertise say or claim its both.

Altro is probably the best slip-resistant flooring on the market, Nothing in my opinion is 'Non slip' cos if you have oil etc on your feet with certain shoes, it will become slippy. :D

Altro and other copies of it are widely used in shower rooms/wet rooms etc and does a very good job, you'd be hard put to go on your ass in a shower room fitted with it, even during the hottest baby oil session with the missus! ;) But I'd say nothing is really non slip, if you know what I mean?!? :)

^^^ What he said, I've been in various locations with this type of flooring, and 99.99% of the time it does exactly what it says, but with the wrong type of contaminant on the wrong type of soles, WHAHEY, Torvil and Dean time.

Losberger UK, structures, event, exhibition, marquees, temporary, Walter, TMB, emergency, hospitality - Options - Floors

Would it be possible to slip on this stuff? There not that forthcoming on the spec which means they don't hold out much faith in it?

Non-slip and anti-slip are not really definitive terms.

All they're trying to say is that the floor is coated with a friction coating which reduces the chance of slipping.

As previous posters have said - the wrong type of contaminant and it's possible / probably you'll slip. For example if it's in a marquee then if your guests tread in a lot of mud then the floor will be slippy because you're standing on mud and not the floor beneath :D

I have Altro flooring in my upstairs wet room. The 'nippled' look is as good as you'll get but it looks rank in a short time if you get it dirty and its a pig to clean.

You need to enter bare foot or with 'shower only shoes' to keep it looking decent and prevent having to bleach it.

Wouldn't have it again.

The nippled stuff is a bugger to clean and I wouldn't recommend it in a home wet room, the normal flat stuff is sufficient. The nippled stuff is more suited to sport centres etc where they have buffing machines to clean it.

My wet room is the centre of many sports let me tell you. :thumb:

Even with the buffing machine it's still shít. :D

You may have a specific reason for asking, such as use by an elderly of infirm person.

I honestly think the only way is to get a demonstration of the various floors' qualities somehow. Too late after its been laid.
