AIRLOCK

Hi everyone :)
Ive just put in a new Radiator N Thermostat in my 1995 wagon, and think i have an airlock cos top pipe is hot, bottom is cold and heater is now rubbish, before it was excellent...and the temp gague goes up real quick when driving and the fans come on(luckily!!)

Does anyone no how i can solve this please...ive had it running with the heater on and no exp. cap n keep topping it up n "pumping" the hoses, but this doesnt seem to be sorting it...

Any help advice will be much appriciated :)

the cap you want off is the header tank not expansion tank cap :thumb:

Try filling it through the turbo to header tank return hose using a funnel, This is the highest place in the system. I've done it without getting any airlocks. Do it with the engine running and keep squezing various hoses.

Or just keep squeezing the bottom right radiator hose.

Fill it from the header tank end through the turbo. Take the small overflow hose off from the rad end (connects from header tank where the cap is, to left hand side of rad). Keep filling until you see it coming from the rad. Put hoses back on and top up tank. Job done... Works everytime. :thumb:

Also, dont expect the bottom hose to get as hot as the top. It rarly will. Just so long as you have hot fans in the cabin and no gugling or overheating your sorted.
When I changed my rad on my last rex I disconnected the top rad hose and then slowley poured coolant into engine side and the rad side. Its all about filling s.l.o.w.l.e.y :)
