Mine do it after i have washed the wheels and put her away. Stick it in to gear, and give it some stick. I sorts mine out.

good dose of WD40 to loosen things up
failing that i find that an ideal replacement for WD40 is one cal low fat spray!!

p12mem 15 September 2008 09:27 PM

take the pads out and push the piston back, make sure the pins are free as well as the pads, also when u get the wheels off the ground you can see which wheel is siezed

Handbrake shoes have rusted to the drums. Remove rear wheels with handbrake off and hit drums (in front of discs) radially with 4 lb club hammer to release.

For the love of god, no. :nono: I'd like to thing you were joking but someone might actually do it.

think your right as why would the brakes sieze when there not applied,

El Cat 15 September 2008 09:37 PM

one cal works a treat on seized bolts!!
LOL!
wholly natural too!

jonny_693 15 September 2008 09:39 PM

No doubt it works brilliantly on seized bolts, but you wouldn't wanna be spraying it on siezed brakes. ;) At least not if you like stopping :D

scoobynewbie72 15 September 2008 09:42 PM

can u jack it up and get under it?
you could try winding them away with the adjuster from underneath.

El Cat 15 September 2008 09:44 PM

from what he said he wasnt going to be stopping as he wasnt able to start or drive it
thats why i suggested the WD40, more of a last resort thing
i assumed he was going to be putting it on a trailer or something, would never do it if it was going to be driven or anything!!

scoobygonzalez 15 September 2008 10:06 PM

^^^^^ exactly. just want them un seized lol. car aint going anywhere fast

El Cat 15 September 2008 10:37 PM

wasnt as stupid what i wrote in the first place after all!

D1CCY 16 September 2008 09:03 AM

Was it wet when you last parked it up (with our rotten summer thats quite likely), that would be a clincher for the handbrake shoes. If I have to leave my scoob (or any other car for that matter) wet I leave the handbrake off to avoid this.

jonny_693 16 September 2008 09:25 AM

Just dont see the point of ruining the pads because they will need changing if you soak them in WD40. Of course if you arent bothered or scrapping it anyway then Wd40 will unstick them and probably one cal aswell :)
