El Cat 13 September 2008 12:01 PM

if you drive like my gran it would be fine, just dont drive like you stole it. I use 10-50 should be fine but i use 10-60. scoobs get hot Castrol RS 10/60

morris oil is a cheap oil a lot of the motor factors flog. no idea if it is any good or not though.

Normally you get what you pay for, stick to a nice branded semi synthetic, nothing wrong with the 10w40 shell or the likes, if you want to go fully synth (depending on the miles your engine has) then a 5w40 is your best bet, 10w60 is damn thick for a subaru engine btw (60 is the viscosity), personally id not recommend running a 60 oil in a subaru, its like treacle :(

Nothing wrong with Morris oils. A long established Volvo specialist near York recommended it to me when he serviced my T5. 10/40 is recommended viscosity as used by Subaru.

El Cat 13 September 2008 08:09 PM

not sure what to do here
seems some people say yes some say no!
i know that T5 volvos put down a lot of power and get pretty hot so why would oil for that be different for a scoob??

masterbates1 13 September 2008 08:16 PM

different engine lay out, different car.

Like already stated depends on driving style/ Mileage between changes etc. If you put it in and forget it for 3 years you can expect trouble whatever you use. Suggest you take a look at the other oil thread and make up your own mind about what to use. Suggest you just make sure you change the oil and filter regularly.

last oil change was 4000 miles ago and i am planning on reducing it to 3000
car is my daily driver and doesnt really get driven hard much
always warmed up and cooled dwon, wife mainly drives it"

10w/40 and 10w/60 are both fine just stick to top brand oils is my opinion.
