Please help: Fuel pump fitting instuctions needed

Well I thought fitting a walbro would be a doddle, but I was under the impression all the wiring would be the same and it would just be a case of copying the way the standard pump had been wired etc.

My car is a MY98 UK turbo terzo, and I've got this

Compared to this: the walbro pump

Also didn't realise the walbro would be smaller

It should definetly be the right pump for the car.

Can someone please give me some guidance here, e.g a step by step on how to wire it?

Thanks to anyone that can help

Cheers, but it's the instructions from that site that have got me this far :lol1: .

They don't go into as much depth as I need though

Yo'll need to cut the old wiring and splice the new to it,the pump size difference is taken up by the new rubber end, plus a cable tie helps.

What's the other option?

its perfectly safe dont worry, I suppose the anal option would be to solder the wires and heatshrink them assuming(!) that heatshrink doesnt melt in petrol.

Just a worrying propsect that I could never quite get my head round

Go to scoobyworld, think they charge £45 fitting on fuel pumps.

Im abit worried about fitting mine, i did my own on my 200sx s14a, but darednt on the impreza.

Ill be flapping it and getting someone else to do it..

Live terminals in the tank........that was my worry when I fitted mine but I was assured it would be fine.

Fitting ................as above. Just chop the wires from the bracket and add new connectors.
Pretty straight forward really. The biggest problem for me was actually lowering the assembly back into the tank. This part took me around 20 mins alone........tried it this way...that way.....and eventually it went in....Phew!

If its ok for aircraft to have live terminals in the tanks, then it must be safe!

Hi everbody, many thanks for all the replies. Managed to get the pump fitted last night :)

Once again scoobynet members save the day

normal heat shrink corrodes... tape becomes unsticky and then floats in the tank.. options are bullet connectors or solder etc.. just cable tie the connections away from each other and the metal frame..

petrol does not conduct electricity unlike water so they can be submerged wihtout issue.

Sorry my instructions aren't detailed enough.. I might update one day

when i did mine i too was worried about live wires in the tank so much so i went round every car spares place in my area and bought a lenght of heat shrink from all of them and then left them all sitting in a jar of petrol for a month to see which ones didn't corrode :)
