Incredible, and extremely worrying

In the Independent today, a story about how some protesters were found not guilty of causing £35k worth of damage to a power plant because their cause was to prevent global warming.

It makes worrying reading.........

what would scooby do 11 September 2008 09:47 AM

Green light now for anyone wanting to smash up range rovers etc

alcazar 11 September 2008 10:12 AM

Apparently someone else has been found not guilty of damaging GM crops. Same reason given.

lamp posts will soon be in use again as gallows ....

The 'Green Lobby' has always been based, albeit subversively, in radicalism, scare tactics and unsupported 'science'.
It is not surprising that the lunatic fringe are making grounds into the judiciary/legal system.
It's not surprising because 'you' have not challenged it
I've seen these people at work at many levels and in many countries.
We'll all suffer if they are not marginalised. :(

I used to laugh at the greens.

They seem to have taken over the world now though.

Not good. They'll have us all drinking lental soup next.

I hate lental soup.

speedking 11 September 2008 01:31 PM

Nutty.

The climbing equipment they used must have used electricity in its manufacture, distribution, sale, transport to the site.

Please tick here how you would like that electricity to be produced:
□ Nuclear
□ Coal
□ Oil
□ Wind
□ Gas
□ Solar
□ On second thoughts I think I will give up protesting because I couldn't live without electricity.

Well, actually you might 'live' but you'd be extremely miserable :(
These Fookers will have us all recycling our own farts to 'save the earth'.
Be very careful to question all that you hear from our 'green friends'. :freak3:

hutton_d 11 September 2008 02:43 PM

Greens now - communists then ....

Nuff said.

The write-in comments on the Independent story are pretty worrying too....

I'd laugh at that too as I've never seen or heard of a Honda Prius, are they as ugly as the Toyota? :D

The defence of "lawful excuse" under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 allows damage to be caused to property to prevent even greater damage – such as breaking down the door of a burning house to tackle a fire.
So we could kill a greenpeaceist in order to prevent it from doing more damage to a power station? :wonder:

Also, I hate Priususuuesusueususs cos they claim to be good for the environment but actually aren't, I hate greenpeace cos they claim to be good for the environment but actually aren't. I fail to see the hypocrisy!

I doubt it. Doing £1000 worth of damage to save the £5 of environmental damage that a RangeRover would cause is not "allowing damage to be caused to property to prevent even greater damage" :thumb:

They're terrorists. They should be treated the same as any other of their kind.

unclebuck 12 September 2008 09:46 AM

Jury was clearly made up of Nu Labor voting lefties...

Luminous 12 September 2008 10:26 AM

I was utterly staggered when I read the news report on this. It basically gives anyone the right to do anything if THEY feel its justifiable. Total madness.

Leslie 12 September 2008 05:25 PM

They want stuffing!
