Un-Biased help please

Guys/Gals

Im looking at swapping my Audi A4 Cab for something a little less german, a 54 WRX SL with PPP in silver with silver alloys.

Any pointers on the car?

I know it will be quick, but how reliable are they? anything I should look out for on the test drive? Anyone gone from an audi to a scooby and wished they hadnt?

Cheers all

Si

Yeah I understand i put un biased but I know short falls with owning my car and I would give advise to anyone looking at buying one.

Mines an 03 1.8t fwd a4 cab, high spec with optional roof, interior and s-line kit. Its around 163bhp so i know the performance isnt going to match the subaru, but it is very comfortable on motorway driving which i do a lot of.

The reason im looking to get rid is because of its impractability. I cant get my other 2 hobbies in it Mountain bike and mini moto and because its slower than they missus tt 225.

whats the price of the wrx your looking at mate (you prob already know but i would say yours is worth a bit more than it), your gonna lose your comfort a bit but not that much. the model itself is pretty reliable, i had a 03 wrx a bit back and i never had one problem with it and it went through its first and second m,o,t with not one thing needing doing. i would say go for it and look about loads there is some real bargains about at the mo.

Auto Trader UK - SUBARU IMPREZA 2.0 WRX AWD Turbo [SL] with PPP and Tracker!

Not getting a lot of love with the value of my car, a wet summer has put pay to that, Im reckoning a straight swap.

They don't do an Impreza Cab, it would be a shame to ruin your tan driving round in an Impreza (unless you cut the roof off with a Stihl saw)

Your funny

From personal experience, a scooby is not the best car if you do lots of motorway miles as never found it the best long distance car. Having said that, I'm now on my third but only do approx 5,000 miles a year in it rather than the 30,000 a year I used to do... Reliability has never been an issue for me other than the odd suspect battery and knocking shocks on my MY02.

The biggest thing you will notice is the overall interior build quailty of the car.
the plastics are a lot cheaper, and you are more than likely to have the odd rattle.
there is no where near as much sound deadening in the subaru so you will get some increased road noise even though your going from a cab to a tin top.
the stereo will be ****e in comparison to the audi.

seats are generally comfortable and the ride of the WRX isn't to harsh (the STi is a bit stiffer)

as for realiabilty the impreza is a pretty realiable car as long as its well looked after.

the car will also cost more to run (may or may not be an issue)

What you will be gaining though is a very exciting and involving car to drive. The performance and handling of the car will be improved and you will find that the car is much more stable at speed on rough roads.

You will also get the sound of the flat four:norty:

might be obvious but have you looked on piston heads?, this is a few examples for ya matey, the one you've seen is a little pricey imho.:)

I assume you're looking at the WRX wagons... if so, I'd consider something like an S4 avant, V70R or even a Mondeo estate.....

You will notice a massive drop in interior refinement and costs of ownership will go up. As long as you're prepared then go for it.... :thumb:

I went from a newish Renault to an STI and even I needed time to adjust.... fortunately for me when I'm in the car, I'm too busy driving (and enjoying it) to be bothered about the hard plastics.... :D
