Thinking of changing pads (MY 00 4 pots) myself, but need good instructions....

ITS A DODDLE! even your granny could do it!

small wire type clip that goes through the pins, pop that off, push pins out, voila! remove pads!

you will do i no probs! :rolleyes:

Just done pads & discs this morning:

1) loosen wheel nuts
2) Jack car up and remove wheel
3) Remove pad retention spring (top of caliper)
4) Remove spring clip that holds pad guide rods in place (reverse side that your looking at)
5) Remove pad guide rods
6) Remove pads (may require some jiggery pokery!)
7) Recover shims from pads and clean
8) Remove brake fluid reservoir cap
8) Push pistons back as far as they can go, I use a pad spreader by Draper, but you can use one of you wifes wooden cooking utensils!! Dont use anything too hard as you may damage piston surface. AS YOU DO THIS MAKE SURE THE BRAKE FLUID DOES NOT OVERFLOW AND REMOVE SOME IF NECCESSARY.
9) Smear copper grease to the back of the pad and both sides of the shims.
10) Refit pads and shims (put the one with the wear indicator, metal prong thingy to the wheel side, so you can see it thru the wheel)
11) Push pad guide rods thru pads and shims
12) refit spring clip that holds guide rods in place
13) Refit pad retention spring
14) Put wheel back on
15) lower car
16) retorque wheel nuts
17) CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND REFIT CAP
18) WHILE STATIONARY PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL IT BECOMES STIFF
19) ROAD TEST SENSIBLY

Its not particularly hard, in fact the hardest part I find is lifting the car (hate doing this, waiting for the jack to appear thru the floor pan).

Some folks will tell you it can be done in 15mins side - so what its not a race. Take it easy check your work and you will be fine.

Generally takes me about an 1hr to 1-1/2hrs, cos I'm unorganised always looking for tools, smoking etc.

If you have a digi camera take a pic of the caliper assembled so you can refer, or only do one caliper at a time so you can refer to the other.

Oh and you will need to remove brake fluid filer cap and push the pistons back in to refit new ones!:D:D
get some brake cleaner and clean up the plates that back your pads, i smeared a small amount of copper grease to the backs of pads so the plates can sit nice:)
