Does anyone have one or ever had one , thinking of getting rid of the civic type r and getting one with lpg conversion .just wondered what they were like to drive

rubbish IMO but you can`pick one up for £2800 and may be worth buying at that. Remember it has to have command and family pack to be able to sell it on again and anyone seliing one should be desperate to get rid.

My wife has got a 270 CDI 2002 MY, with LUX, Familly pack and full AMG Sports options. And it is a fantastic car, never had any trouble at all. We recently did a 4600 mile round trip through France/Spain/Portugal. And averaged 34 mpg at an average of 80-85 mph. My brother in law has a new shape Disco that has been nothing but trouble, so to the case he returned it under the sale of goods act and has now got a W164 320 CDI ML. Buy a good history car and you'll have no bother.

would you say the one in the link is a reasonable price, its done just under 100000k comes with full history |
Personally I would say no. You can get a slightly older model with 70k for 3-4k and then pay for the LPG yourself in the long run it will save money. The alternative is to buy the a diesel straight away but depends on how many LPG stations are in your area.

I'm sure on one of the TG episodes from couple of years back, they featured the above in the Owner Satisfaction or similar catergory.
It was voted by owners as the most disappointing car they had owned to date. |
Owner satisfaction surveys are of no relevance at this age and money.
It was a crap car at £50k but at £3-4k you have to compare with what else is available for the money. The one on ebay looks nasty though. Expensive and horridly tarted up. Is that screen standard? You have to question someone that takes a close-up of a LPG filler attached to a flimsy rusty bracket on the towbar. |
My father in law gave us his old one, after the initial novelty we realised it was a ponderous, badly made, uneconomical lump, replaced it with a diesel Sharan which was a ponderous, badly made economical lump.

The one you're looking at is way too expensive. I have an ML430 - the comments above correct - must have Lux and Family to sell on and is a great car at £7k or less but not at £45k. Make sure you get one that's 2001 X or before because of the tax.
The diesel does have some known problems (can't remember what they are) and (LPG aside) the 430 is so much better than the 320 for only 1 mpg worse. The 4.3 V8 is fantastic. Find me another 7 seater with 0-60 in 8 seconds for <£6k. Incidentally, I drove a Discovery 3 recently and found it to have slightly worse handling than the ML. Also it's 10 inches longer for no more interior room. |

I have the new one 08 plate & its ok. Chopping it in shortly & going back to the RR TDV8.
The old one had problems with water ingress & dodgy electrics. |
