If you're getting to the point where you can specify drivers and tell it where to look, it's looking for a .inf file - probably in a sub-directory somewhere on the floppy. Search for *.inf on the floppy and pick the one appropriate for your operating system.
e.g. you might find thingy_98.inf or thingy_me.inf - get the idea?
What is the hardware you're adding anyway?

Ok you need to install the operating system onto the PC, If you have Windows 98 SE or Windows ME the discs should be self booting and guide you through the installation.

If you have another OS then you will need a boot disk, then FDISK/Format the drive and install from CD-Rom then.

Check your boot options in the bios.

Make sure that under the boot devices, floppy is checked first, then hard drive, then CD-ROM.

It's looking for the OS on the hard disk (as mentioned). Sounds like it is at least checking the CD-ROM for a boot device, so as long as you have your bootable OS disk in the CD drive, it should check and see you have no OS installed and start installing it.

Sorry if this is what the previous posts stated (I may have read them wrong  )

Ah - so it doesn't have an OS yet.......

The 98 CD is bootable - but if it's a "backup copy" it won't be.
