Front fogs, or rear, or both?

AFAIK, the FOGS should be wired so that THEY won't come on without sidelights?

Maybe activating fogs, therefore, HAS to activate sides?

front fogs im on about,

doesnt have a rear fog thats the prob, so im wondering how it got through the last MOT,

have pulled the dash apart and the fog switch seems to be wired ok,

anybody else any ideas where to look?

Even so, that is the correct procedure. You cannot have your front or rear fogs on without sidelights. An MOT tester should know this.

FRONT fogs aren't tested on the MoT AFAIK, since they are not mandatory.

So long as your side lights don't immediately bring them on, you're OK. If they do, just remove the fuse/bulbs/wiring connectors to the fogs.

Strange they tested my front ones,

the sidelights come on when i turn the fogs on, which is correct i believe, MOT tester said he thought there was a wiring problem thats what got me looking.

cheers for the help

p.s anybody know how i should rewire the reversing light to become a fog?

What part of the country are you in mate? I have had EXACTLY the same prob as you only 4 months ago. I got someone to wire a reverse light into a fog in the end. Cost me £30. If you're in Kent or nearby I can point you in the right direction. Oh and I had to have a dedicated, rear fog only, switch to make it work.

The route I took was (after buying a bolt on fog light  but then didn't have to fit :) ) to go to the local import garage and ask them who preps their cars when they come off the boat from Japan. They'll have a dedicated garage for their work - speedo conversion, fuel filler restrictor, rear fog installation, etc. The one near me gladly gave me the number and later that afternoon I was fixed with foglight in place of reverse light. If you need the number of the guy who done mine, for advice etc, PM me. He may even know someone oop North for ya.

Again the same, and it turned out the wiring for one existed, but somebody had chopped the light off :lol1:

On my new age, the front fogs won't come on without the sidelights being activated.

The rear fog won't come on without dipped headlamps being activated.

Whether this is required for the vehicle to be legal I don't know - just thought it might help.

Failing GradeA, you can also go to Jap Performance Parts : Home :thumb:

If it's an import then the wiring and fog should have been installed at SVA time. If someone has just removed the fog light then you should be able to find the wiring in the boot somewhere. You'll probably need the help of a mulitmeter and friend to push the switches while you measure the readings.

If the wiring isn't there for whatever reason it is not a huge job. You'll just need to run a wire (small thickness) from the switch to the back and solder it on. You can use one of the many grounding points in the back. The only time I can think that you'll need a wiring harness is if you need it to come on with the rear lights. There are plenty of auto electricians to do the job.
