how much over priced is this??
my bro is interested in it but not at the price its up for @ £9995 with 6 months warranty
been there for 6 months and was up for £11495 then
now dropped to £9995 54 plate with 51k
says on parkers about £9500 from a subaru dealer with 40k on it
and £8700 from a independent dealer with £40k on it

opinions anyone??

When I clicked the link I was expecting to see an STI. That price for a WRX is an absolute joke. Read some of the recent posts where traders have been explaining the value of cars at the moment. Even with the warranty that car isn't worth a penny more than 7 grand and even then I'm being generous. Your brother would be better advised to buy a WRX from a private seller that still has some Subaru warranty left on it. £9-10k should easily get him a car in its third year.

Indeed. Just sold my mint 2005 STI PPP with Prodrive springs and Alloys with 34,400 miles on it for £12k.

£10k for a 54 plate WRX? Far to much.

buy my 53 plate for 6k if he likes

Glass's prices always tend to be on the high side and are much more representative of franchised dealers (IMHO).

Personally I reckon CAP ('Current Auction Prices') is of more relevance to the market for used Subaru at the moment. CAP prices tend to be a fair be lower than Glass's.

Bear in mind that these guides show 'lagging' data (i.e. the information tends to be a month or more old). The way prices have dropped recently, a month is a long time! I hear that some dealers are refusing to honour '58 reg P/X deals made on trade-in cars valued 6-8 weeks ago! That's how badly things have fallen.
If you want an idea of how much your Impreza is worth then phone a few local motor traders, describe your car honestly to them, and ask them how much they'd give you as a cash deal for your car. I bet most just wouldn't want it, and those that do make an offer will leave you open mouthed.

I predict the market for used Subaru (in fact anything of 2 litre or more) will continue to fall and next year you'll struggle to give the cars away. A lot more people will be on the dole and mortgage repo's will be rising (they already are!). A lot of people are totally borrowed out, over the last 12 months borrowing in the UK has been running at over £250m every day of the week :eek2:

Historically PPG was extremely accurate: the reason? Originally PPG was published by the same firm as CAP and the prices accurately mirrored those in the Black Book, albeit one month behind.

That was some while ago though. CAP is produced by emap and Parker's by Bauer.
At the end of the day these are just guides and there can be big variations according to the local market. They also rely on truthful information. For example Glass's get a lot of data from sales managers of franchised outlets - can they be relied upon to truthfully report the value of a deal?

a wrx blob or bug with exhaust, panel filter and remap is coming in at half the price of the equivalent unmofified sti models for some reason, but he is only 22 and 23 in a few weeks

If he's prepared to spend £10k then he could probably get into an 06-07 Hawkeye WRX, and it would still have some manufacturers warranty on it. Even buying privately is not too risky at this age - get AA/RAC inspection done on it (£200-300), verify the service history and you have Subaru warranty of 12 months or more to fall back on if there are any problems.
