Bit of a riddle for you....

Have a read of this -

This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching!

coolangatta 28 August 2008 01:51 PM

It does not contain the words 'a' or 'the' which is quite unusual.
I may be a million miles off the mark though. :wonder:

PeteBrant 28 August 2008 01:51 PM

Got it..

SPOILER ALERT

None of the words have the letter "e" in them.

darts_aint_sport 28 August 2008 01:53 PM

It is grammatically correct, which makes it unusual for Scoobynet.

Yep, I think you got it :thumb:

So the fact that I noticed no 'the' was relevant. DOH!

I'll second that.

Kieran_Burns 28 August 2008 02:10 PM

I was unusually skillful in finding a solution without third party succour or contribution.

How's that for my response without using the same letter? :D

TelBoy 28 August 2008 02:14 PM

Got it by the third line, what do i win? :)

Will you just stop manufacturing ridiculous assays into producing solutions that do not contain a particular missing symbol?

Which is wrong, the Yorkshire usage of t'<word> is meant to represent "to the", NOT "the".

i.e. I'm going t'shops is fine.
I'm going to t'shops is not.

Even I know that, and I'm suvvener. :D

TelBoy 28 August 2008 03:56 PM

Oh for God's sake

Is "aint" grammatically correct?

Les :)

Actually yes it is. It is short for "Am not". this was modified to ain't due to the way it was said

If you think about it: Aren't I is appalling English... Are I not. When written like that it just looks wrong.

Yes I know but I was also thinking of the correct way to write it as you did in fact, as "ain't".

Les :)

Kieran_Burns 29 August 2008 02:13 PM

Whoops sorry Les - didn't see the missing ' :D

Please accept my humblest apologies for doubting your lexicographic prowess ;)
