Engine bay Cleaned-Bar Intercooler!?
Sproosed up the engine bay over the weekend, which all comes up fine using brush on Gunk, and blackend the hoses, airfilter intake etc with combi between back to black and Meg's tyre gel.
The only part I couldnt get clean was the intercooler, the fins impartial, they were soaked with Gunk, worked in with a suitable brush, but still no joy. What product is better suited to this task?. Heres how is currently stands:- http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Newbies017.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Newbies018.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Newbies019.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Newbies020.jpg Thanks for looking and any ideas! |
nice work fella. get some megs super degreader cut to 4-1. warm the engine up and spray it on. then work with a soft brush and rinse. just keep doing it until it comes clean. looks good to me though.

Looking good Darren. :thumb: You could try Megs SD but be careful with the Intercooler fins when agitating with a brush.

some are bent, i've got some back with a tiny screw driver, getting them back in place, I will be careful with the brush.

Whats best to rinse with, got all the tools, u dont use the preasure washer though do u?, just a mist spray from the hose?
|
using a pressure washer on it is fine. just done hold it too close as the pressure will bend the fins. really though there's no need to use anything more than water running from a hose pipe.

I going to help do my dads engine bay this afternoon. Its had not been cleaned in 5 years or 75k miles :eek2:

Please can you tell me everything that you covered up before you powerwashed it.

Someone suggested warming the engine a little before spraying water, so that any water that runs down before you can mop it up drys quicker. |
