scoobyworld backbox

What are everyones opinions on the 4 scoobyworld silencers available? Not sure which one to get on an my55 wrx. Im getting the afterburner vortex centre pipe but for the back its either ninja, ninja 2, racebox or vortex.
Not sure which one sounds best.

Have you listened to the videos on their site?

I went with the racebox as wanted a good sound without the drone. It is perfect for me and quite loud with the same deresonator as you and a decat downpipe. Sounds amazing when using the fast pedal.

However, if you are into the more "street" style sounding exhausts that burble/boom at all revs (each to their own) then I would say the afterburner. The Ninja is too loud IMHO.

All this is dependent on what kind of Impreza you have of course. mine is an 06.

Forgot to mention, the quality is spot on. Bit of polish on mine and after a year of use it still looks brand new.

leonski 20 August 2008 08:26 PM

not sure really. Its quite hard to tell off the sound clips. My previous car an my99 classic had a scorpion centre and backbox which sounded nice. I think the prodrive ones are too quiet but i dont want something that can be heard for miles around and i dont want it to be too droney at constant speed like motorways. They said i can try them all but i am crap at making decisions and will probably spend an age trying to decide. Just want a few opinions really.

^^^^^sounds like your after the ninja then mate. had one on a classic and on a blob wagon:thumb: . had a vortex on a 02 sti i had, that sounded fantastic, louder than the ninjas i had though.both excellent quality, vortex made by H&S IIRC.

In my experience, the Ninja system is a good quality sound, not O.T.T., so would be the best choice if you don't want a loud loud system. The after burner Vortex is a lot louder and thus will probably have a drone on the motorway if you have a decat downpipe too.

But then theres obscene, the Blitz nur spec-r, which when a full 3" decat will hurt like hell on your ears:lol1: :norty:

I've had 2 of the above systems...

Ninja backbox/afterburner centre-decat downpipe on my old WRX a couple years back.

Full Blitz nur spec-r on my most recent Uk Scoob.

The nur spec-r was far far louder...

how does the ninja look? does it suit a blobeye?

codie247 20 August 2008 09:08 PM

On my old wagon , but you can see the look.

is there a skinny little pipe coming out of the silencer with a big end stuck on it. not sure if i like that

Mikkel 20 August 2008 09:24 PM

I stand corrected, I thought the Ninja was the loud one not the vortex.

codie247 20 August 2008 09:25 PM

the ninja 2 adresses that issue mate, think it 4.5' all the way from the silencer.
Take a look on Scoobyworld website.

Anyway, to the OP. Don't rule out the racebox if you want a rally style zaust that is louder than the Prodrive backbox. I would suggest you get to a local meet or something before buying as you may be able to hear a few different options.

leonski 20 August 2008 09:38 PM

they have said i can try all 4 and pick the one i like best. nice to hear some opinions first though.

They'll fit all 4 for you... that is seriously cool. Wish I lived next to em, have bought a few things online and never been disappointed with the service, but that is above and beyond!

That sounds too nice imho. If they fit 4 different backbox's doesn't that then make the 3 do don't want second hand, thus costing them more?

leonski 20 August 2008 10:11 PM

im guessing they have a demo version of all 4 for people to try. It states it on their website that they will let you try all 4 out to get the one your happy with. sounds like great service to me.

How much does insurance go up by fitting a new center pipe and backbox? I too was looking into an afterburner center and racebox from scooby world but as a newbie I'm not sure how it would affect my insurance.

wiley 21 August 2008 04:11 PM

had the vortex afterburner angled full system, it sounded phattt... really rumbly, i was quite pleased with the sound until i heard the blitz nur spec which i currently have
as for performance, because i had the angled version for performance i can feel a slight difference in speed compared to the blitz

Depends who you are with. It is not really a performance upgrade unless you mess with the cats, so shouldn't be much if anything... but as stated, depends on your insurer.
