This isn't anything new.

Surely they can just use sea water. Clean and purify it, remove all the salt and possibly fish?

Or am i being so stupid here?

AndyC_772 19 August 2008 12:25 PM

Ah... but that requires energy, and Using Energy Is Bad (TM).

subaruturbo_18 19 August 2008 12:29 PM

this is true, but on the bright side theres no real harm.

Lets say we use energy to use sea water, then as we use the water up, global warming will cause the ice caps to melt, causing more water to be added to the sea. although as we will be consuming it the sea levels will not rise. :D

Erm... yeah. (And if you weigh the same as a duck, then you're made of wood, and therefore, a witch! :D )

Desalination plants are very expensive, the countries most at risk are cash strapped. It's more about trying to slow down population growth IMO, less people and the resources go further.

StickyMicky 19 August 2008 12:34 PM

could you use the wave power machines, to power a desalination plant ?
