A big WYIOC favour
Guys, I need your help.
At the beginning of September my Mum & Dad are going away for 2 weeks. I've had this plan for a while now but was just struggling how to do it. I want to get our back garden for my mum, ever since she had a heart attack 18 months ago shes not been able to pot her plants and the garden is basically a sh!thole. I've been trying for years to get my dad on board but now I've had enough, I want to get the garden done as a surprise for they get back. But we'll only have a weekend to do it as I can't get time off work with me been in training. It won't take much to do, its relatively straight forward apart from some new steps to go down to the garage. I spoke to Paul about it a while ago who has generously said he can help but I would really appreciate as much help as possible. Many hands make for light work. :) I'm gonna try and get as much of the stuff as possible but if anyone knows a Builders Merchants I can deal with it'd be great as I need new flags etc. So please can anyone help me do this? |
Hi rich. i should be OK to help you out mate. aim a dab hand at laying flags and landscaping so just let me know when and where. also i have a cement mixer if that helps.

mark They go from 3rd September til 17th September. I'm hoping this can be done from Friday the 12th til Sunday 14th. We've got garden furniture in the garage ready to go in the garden and Paul can supply some sand for me but I need to get hold of: Decorative Flags - A lot of them Plant pots - about 12 of various sizes. Undersheeting stuff for under the flags May need some new bricks or large stones to make new steps to go into the house from the garden too. I've got a lot to do in 2 weeks... |
i'll help out with plants and things, and for anyone wanting to help out over the weekend....plenty of bacon butties and tea will be served!!! :D

Lynds does your dad or Adrian know of a cheat ish builders merchants I can go to for the stuff??
|
best place we've found is local builders merchants near us in hillsborough, they do good prices, your best bet is yeller pages i think, and find a local place, prices are reasonable enough...just dont go to b&q etc!! r..i..p...o..f..f!!!! :lol1:
|
Would use B&Q or Homebase for a project like this, I know it needs to be specialist supplies.
I know there's one in Leeds, I'll have to try them on Friday. |
i know a man who can get a couple of ton of aggregates!!! :lol1:
|
Already got that one sorted :D Just the stuff that goes on top of that I need.

dont put any membrane under the flags, it'll cause more trouble than it's worth
|
Can drop you a bag of mortar of to lay your flags down and lay bricks for your steps ..i am not bad with a spirit level and a trowel..:) i guess you already have the footings in place for your steps..:wonder:

Sort of Bri, they are gonna be changed I think, not sure, I went to Paul and Debs last night, they are pricing the materials up but I really would appreciate the extra hands, we need a few brickies so it'd be great :thumb:
