Open source Mapping

Just wondering what the difference is between open souce and Ecutek, is there an advantage to Ecutek over Open source??

Who are the best open souce mappers out there

Based on newage

thanks

have a chat with Simon aka jolly green monster and he will sort you out mate.

Mapped a fair few cars within our club and others all over the uk too

He does Ecutek and also Simtek for the new age mate so you pays ya money and makes ya mind up

Simtek is a little more expensive but has more features but ecutek is great for most

hope this helps

Not really much difference between Opensource and ecuTek ... they both edit the same tables in the stock ecu to improve performance. Check out RomRaider.com if you are interested in more details.
Zak at Mocom is probably the most regarded opensource mapper I know of ... although not sure if Simon (Jolly Green Monster) still maps using opensource ... but it's worth calling and asking him.

So why is it that Ecutek cost more then open source ??, would therefor not everybody go for Open source rather then Ecutek??
sorry guys really confused with all this mapping business, i basically need the car mapped soon, i have been quoted 400 for open source and 550 +VAt for ecutek. which do i go for ???

all your advice is much appreciated

I think the only advantage with ecutek is the mapper has to invest in the software so should be experienced and knows what he is doing whereas with open source anyone with a laptop can do it, so you must be careful who you choose, but a good mapper can map with either and the overall result should be the same.
