i personally am not, but i have seen, and know of people who are. i think there good till about 320-330 ish but don't expect it to have the same life span on this power range as it would have as standard

Broke my first one within 3 weeks once the power had been hiked up to 330 ish.

Had a recon from API and everything has been fine since (2.5 years later)

The old box had 90K on it and I was not gentle with it!!!! so couldn't complain really.

Some other guys are running alot more on standard UK boxes!!!!!

alot of its down to your driving style and the wear in the past, previous owner etc:D

I went through 3 Gearboxes when running 340/300....
Selector forks kept bending!

broke two on under 300...got a P1 box now running circa 360; its perfect :)

touch wood the car has been running 300 bhp when i bought it and i have up'd that to 320 and 303lb been running it for 3 months now, no sign of any issues on a standard box which has done 130k had a new clutch in feb when the engine was replaced so hoping it will hold out.

i have heard of people running 350bhp and even a little more, without any issues but also some have had it let go a a lot less think it is just luck and how you treat it.

This is a topic that has my interest as I hope to be over 300 on my MY98 Classic after my next re-map at the end of the month.

I was thinking that trying to get the best 0 to 60 times is going to do the most damege to the clutch and gearbox. So was thinking of avoiding these as a regular event.

However, was kind of hoping that 40 to 70 overtaking will be less of a strain and might well happen quite often - where road conditions permit of course :thumb:.

Hoping to avoid regular gearbox replacements !

are these wrx gearboxes your talking about being good for 320ish is there any differance with a sti gearbox with that bhp.

and is the p1 box not the same as the sti5

I blew my last gearbox up with 330bhp/290lf/ft was a TY752 case box, had replaced the box that was in the car when I bought it which was notchy going into 5th.

Now running a TY754 cased UK 5 speed with my jap diffs, this box was put in 3 days before last years SSO and has had soooooo much more abuse than the shitty one that blew up.

IIRC, it the torque that breaks boxes not the bhp. :wonder:

My RB5 has the o/e box, only on 50k miles and one very careful previous owner.
Now running 330/310 but ever wary when I put the right foot down.
