Clutch slip on dyno
 

I had my scoob on the dyno on monday getting the map tweeked, while on the dyno the clutch slipped, now the torque is high at just over 300flb, but it may be higher but couldnt tell because it slipped and we stopped the mapping,

Im running a helix organic clutch, im not sure what the drive plate is, the clutch is not that old so it cant be on its wayout already, the guy at the garage said it was probably the drive plate slipping because it is at its limitand may need a stronger drive plate, on the road though there is no problem at all, it does not slip, just wandering if anyone has had this before.

:lol1: :lol1: i've just realised what i have put, i said drive plate, when i was supposed to say pressure plate, they are probably the same thing but just incase they are not i am correcting myself :lol1: :lol1:

Yep, this happened to me as well. i am running an Exedy upgraded clutch and mine shows no sign of slipping on the road (even when upping the boost!). Shortly after my 'box exploded so the clutch may be getting replaced anyway!!:freak3:

If it's slipping on the rollers and stopping you mapping in more torque you'll need to look for a suitable clutch.

If the pressure plate slipped it would be a right old mess in there, if that is what he said go elsewhere, the clutch slipped as the pressure created by the pressure plate combined with the friction (dictated by the driven plate) wasn't enough to stop it slipping, to hold more torque you need more pressure or a higher friction, or some of both....but remember either of these will all make it less pleasant to drive on the road, so unless you plan future mods, its not worth going to a higher spec clutch than you need!

Your 00MY is I believe a 225mm clutch, if so its worth upgrading to a 230mm (Forester or newage WRX) while your doing it (flywheel will need refacing, but probably does anyway!)
