There's been a bit on the General board about some dealers being a bit sniffy when servicing EU imports. My 7 500 service is coming up and I'd like to take it somewhere where I'll be welcome.
Anybody care to post experiences they've had with theie EU imports, good or bad |
I see you're based in Brentwood. Both Days of Chelmsford and Osbornes of Colchester are happy to service EU imports. I don't know about the one in Romford -- but that's probably nearer for you.
Scoobysport are in Basildon too :) |
Ta Carl, I'll give Days a wizz. Previous experience with Wilsons Parts was poor, so I'll go to Chelmsford. It's a better drive too!
As for Scoobysport. Well I daren't go near the place, otherwise I'll come away skint. |
I know were some distance away but we will happily service parallel imports, and do warranty work if ness, Pete @ Listers 01905 640512

Interesting point is that EU cars have the one year pan euro warranty which ONLY means that you have to religously follow the schedule and use genuine parts to keep this intact. So whether you are in or out of warranty the world of independant specialists are at your disposal as well! :) Cheers Paul TSL |
Trouser,
Unless you have a Belgian Import which has the 2 yr additional warranty. If you want to keep this in tact you need to keep up with the offical parts and dealers routine. Do you mean this warranty doesn't 'work'? I've not got any experience of this, but if the combination dealers and Subaru Benelux together = an unworkable warranty, then I agree the indies would be an option. As would mods. Have you had any experience of the extended warranty? |
A bit off topic nigel but you took us there;)
Is it not now true as of 01jan02 that all EU cars have a 2yr pan european warranty, not the 1yr that it used to be. If so does this only apply to cars purchased after after that date. |
Boultsy,
Yeah you're right. But back to the original thread.....some dealers will be more amenable than others to warranty work for imports. Any experiences? |
No experience of warranty work as this is my first scooby and only 2 mnths old, but Mill Lane are more than Happy to service EU imports and have been nothing but helpful, even received a letter thanking me for taking my business to them, which in true fastshow style was nice.:)
I get the impression that if any warranty work needed to be carried out then it wouldn't be Mill Lane who'd be awkward, if you know what i mean. |
Warranty update...! I've just been advised by the agent I'm getting my much-awaited WRX from that the Subaru Belgium warranty has been extended to 3 years/60,000 miles and 3 years membership of Subaru Assistance...!
Would appreciate any feedback on EU import friendly dealers in N.Yorks/Lancs area if poss though - although local garage have been helpful, one did have a UK300 with keys in the ignition in an open showroom when I went for a test drive - don't think I'll trust them with mine, however friendly...! Boultsy - have you any ideas, as you're not too far from me? |
Daphne (!)
Don't think there's anything new in the Warranty - 60 000 miles has been standard for a while. Unless it's changed the small print on the Assistance requires that you live in Belgium for it to be valid. I got myself covered by Direct Line for 50 quid. |
Daphne, you don't call 300 miles far!!!;) Pompey(Portsmouth) is as south as south can be, on the coast. I'll go out my way to find a good dealer but that's too far, I've not even ventured that far North let alone gone in search of a dealer up there. Sorry:(

Sorry Boultsy - obviously had brain fade...!!

I think dealers (all makes) will be in legal hot water if they refuse to service UK-spec cars or honour the MANUFACTURER'S warranty. As for the extended warranty, the previous owner of mine said one dealer (Quemby I think) was happy to carry out warranty work and then pass the bill direct to Subaru Benelux.
Interestingly Fiat dealers have a terrible reputation but when I had my (personally imported) Barchetta they not only carried out servicing and warranty work, but even did a 'goodwill' replacement of an expensive faulty part outside the warranty period ! (It is true that this design fault had been prominently featured on 'Watchdog' !) |
