oil cooler

hi all
im about to rebuild my engine and need to replace the modine.
I have a oil to air type of oil cooler in the garage and was wondering if i could use this instead of the modine?
If so where should i get a sandwich plate thingy ?

what size does the oil cooler need to be?

If you are going to run an after market oil cooler, make sure that it is the type with a thermostat fitted, other wise you engine oil will never get up to temperature during normal driving & that would be bad news for your engine.

most people go with 18 row, that's what I'm running. Phil's is excellent advice, I'm also running a thermostat :)

yeah i thought it would be best to run a thermostat as its only £15 more.

cheers

Check you need an oil cooler in the first place. An oil temp guage is £40 to £60. It may well save the hassle and expense of fitting an oil cooler and even if you do it will show how the oil cooler actually works.
