engine question

Will a 2.5 crank go straight into a 2.0 block?
does that need custom pistons and rods?
anyone do this??:wonder:

Yes & no. The EJ257 crank will go into the 99 onwards block, straight out of a box.

But if you use the earlier centre thrust crank block or a closed deck block then no it won't, not without machining the block and using 2 sets of main bearings. [ 1 set to get the centre thrust main bearing and another set to get the rear thrust main bearing - you cannot buy individual main bearing pairs - just sets ]

You will need custom rods and pistons for most applications to get the 2.5 crank to work in the block. Most people rebore and reliner the 2.0 cdb to 2.2 size and create a 2.33 size engine.

Call me to talk it through if you are actually interested in doing the job and l'll let you have options and prices.

If it is a hyperthetical question [ IE you are just interested, but don't actually want to do it ] then you should have enough above.

Good Luck David APi
