Recycling? Bull**** !
Just been to my local civic amenities centre, (tip:D)
I had cardboard, LOADS of different packaging foam, all separated out, an old computer printer, and 5 litres of old cooking oil. I could only recycle the cardboard and the printer:mad: Even the cooking oil went straight into the landfill skip.:( And yet, our lords and masters are CONSTANTLY whining about us recycling more. Lip service, from Lying Labour. Alcazar |
i wouldnt worry about it, me and nat did the same recently, went to the local tip, round the corner from the steel works and was told most of the seperated stuff we had was going in one "pot" anyways. makes you wonder doesnt it:lol1:

Our local tip, wont take the clear recycling bags anymore. We have to travel to another tip 12 miles away. Thats good for the environment.
To be honest I tried this recycling lark, but now im couldnt give a rats arse. Why should we bother if the power that be cant implement the systems. PS. My tip use to take the recycling bags but now dont |
You should watch a program by Penn and Teller: Bullsh@t! about "recycling". A real eye opener.

Don't bother with recycling ,if the bins full i just chuck it in the incinerator ,poor petol on it and phoooof its gone .:thumb:

I get through loads of water bottles- the big 2 litre ones. Like LOADS of them, as I dont use tap water.
They refuse to collect them for recycling. Why? Because they get too many of them  |
Where I live is fairly enclosed so we've got recycling bins that are quite discreetly placed behind rows of hedges at either side of the development (two bins for glass, two for cardboard, two for plastic and six for regular household waste). It's a shame to see when ever I take the rubbish out that people have been far too lazy to separate plastics, glass and cardboard. - whole cardboard boxes shoved into the regular household waste bin when the cardboard one is right next to it :(
They should have more recycling bins like this in residential areas. I remember as a youngster going up to the recycling bins in the safeway car park with mum, do they still have those at most supermarkets? Mind you, it's all very well having them there but if people won't change their mentality what's the point? |
After last week's strike, it hit home how much waste some poeple produce, There are three people in our household, over a week we fill one fill sized bin bag to bursting point. then looking at other houses where I know there is only two people living and I noted up to four bin bags bursting with crap. WTF? It honestly baffles me how they produce so much more waste than we do. :cuckoo:
Spain has the right idea IMO Instead of paying bin lorries going door to door; most housing estates have basically a "mini tip" which everyone dumps their shyte there. Normally compromising of a dozen biffa-bins, a few bottle banks, and a paper bank. Because this literally knocks off 80% of stop-go driving the trucks have to make, it means more time and money is spent on actually collecting the rubbish instead of navigating streets door to door. Although, as a nation of lazy fat-@rses, I'm sure it would be very unpopular to have to walk/drive the several hundred yards to dump your rubbish. :smug: |
The idea of recycling is a good one, I just hate the way its been forced onto people, and the idea of bin spies makes by blood boil - considering we pay (a lot) for the council to take the rubbish away.
What I dont understand is why private house have to recycle their rubbish in seperate bins etc (with no where to store the three bins now have to have at £40 each !), yet many block of flats have communial bins, and dont have to recycle. Even more annoying when you learn that the rubbish goes to the same place any way and they sort it there ! Richard |

My local gym gets through dozens and dozens of plastic bottles each week. But they end up in a big bin outside. I asked the owner why, and was told he would be charged so much to have them collected specifically for recycling that it would wipe out a fair chunk of his profit margin. Can't blame the guy therefore, but what a sad state of affairs.

So much for "making a difference", why didn't you "do something" about it TelBoy?

But it will be by a bloke studying the biochemistry of memory and Alzheimer's, who also happens to be an "expert" on climate change :cuckoo: |
