Beef jerky, where to buy it in Gloucester area?

A friend of mine bought back some BBQ beef jerky from the states last week and its really tasty!

Trying to find somewhere in Gloucester area that would sell it, anyone know of anywhere?

I can find it online but would prefer to pick some up myself.

Petrol stations sell this now, well they do up north anyway.

Make it yourself, its quite easy.

Ian 23 July 2008 09:53 AM

how would you make it?

i have seen it in tesco etc, but i all ways thought it was expensive at around £3+ for about 100g or so

Its only dried meat slivers. There are plenty of descriptions and stuff on how do it on the net. I know on another forum they did a how to thread, I'll see if I can find it later.

Get an off cut from a cow that died from MCD.
Shread the meat in the two inch long strips.
Piss on it.
Leave it in a public toilet for a month.
Sellotape it to a fat blokes arse crack to mature for at least 6 months.
Add salt and pepper

Job done.

Ive bought their jerky and it is quite tough but nice once you've chewed it for a bit.

but watch the hot one, they aren't lying about that one.

I love it.Sainsbury's normally have bags hanging up around the aisles

Don't go for Jerky - it's like old boot leather - South African Biltong is where it's at.... ideally not the pre sliced packet stuff (which is nearly as dry as jerky) but the whole pieces of dried beef that you slice yourself. Was only scoffing some on the patio with a beer last night - Hmmmm.... lovely stuff!

Personally I smuggle it back from SA, double vacuum sealed - as it's not easy to find in the UK. Try here, though it aint cheap: Traditional Beef Biltong 1KG - Mr B's Biltong

Love the taste but the prices are fairly expensive I thought. Must be a huge mark up.

eClaire 23 July 2008 05:58 PM

They sell it in my local vicky wine. Try there. :)

If that doesn't work I'll send you some! :D
