First Day Covers
Years ago I had a trade source for First Day Covers produced by a major philatelic bureau. So I bought everyone that was ever issued in the naive belief that one day they might be worth something. Ha ha :freak3:
Typically they are covers produced for British Overseas protectorates and would be a set of say 6 covers covering all stamp values for things like Royal celebrations etc. I have them all in pristine condition in several small suitcases, probably over 1000 or them. Completely unsorted and uncatalogued. I want to get shot of them so what's the best way to do this? I really don't fancy the hassle of using e-bay. I don't even know if they would normally be collated as an issue e.g. the Queen's anniversary issue or on a territory basis e.g. all stamps issued by Falkland Islands. So comments please from anyone with knowledge of FDCs. Cheers, dl |
Not sure David, but my Grandfather bought me hundreds of first day covers (and all the Royal mint coin issues) so I really should think about finding out myself

Oh and I bought a couple of Krugerands when I was a bit pissed leaving J'Burg once. Put them somewhere "safe". Do you think I can find the buggers now :o And they are worth something!! |
