Sold the Evo, bought this!

Just sold my Evo FQ320 VIII MR (had 2 scoobies before that but I was drawn away to the dark side...), but having got that old chestnut out of my system, I've returned home to buy this little fella...

2006
STI PPP (320ps, 332lbs)
Prodive Spring Kit + 'fast road' geometry set up
18" RB320 wheels

Been very pleased with it :)

Had the wheels / prodrive springs fitted and been very pleasantly surprised by the handling (esp. having come from the pin sharp Evo).

Here's my subjective scores on the 2 cars:

Handling: Evo 9, STI 8.5 (both very good but Evo just has the edge for the dart like steering)

Performance: Evo 9, STI 9 (both awesome but I personally prefer the scoobie torquey delivery)

Engine / exhaust sound: Evo 3 (dull note and whiney engine except maybe at full tilt), Scooby 10 (non-biased!)

Interior: Evo 5, STI 8

Day to day drive: Evo 7 (bit tiresome on long runs), Scooby 9

Running costs: Evo 5, STI 7

Finally... Soul and character: Evo 6, Scooby 9.
The Evo ticks all the boxes in terms of performance and handling etc but lacks a soul for me, Scooby has loads more character.

All IMHO of course :lol1:

Welcome back and nice car. Needs a front lip splitter to finish off the RB320 look.

ruislip 21 July 2008 11:05 PM

What you on about? It clearly doesn't have a front splitter.

I think it would finish the car off nicely.

Looking at your Hawkeye it is 'clearly' my mistake as the front/side bumper has the appearance of a splitter. Soz

Yes it would look even better with one.

Mikkel 21 July 2008 11:26 PM

Those wheels must have set you back a few quid. Very nice.

I never understand why Subaru do it though... sell a car as a special edition and then sell the extra bits off it separately anyway lol Crackers.

Ok apologies, thought you were being sarky. The joys of a web forum eh :)

Mine is also deceptive as, despite being stated as amod in my profile, the splitter is not on the car in my photos just to complicate matters...

IMHO you rated evrything about right although TBH personally I'd have just rated the STi 0.5 lower on handling at 8

Very nice example :D
look for HT auto splitter £200 less than a STi splitter as high kerbs will have exactly the same effect on both on either of them ;) Sadly my front slitter (Sti) was lost in action

i have a Zunsport grill on my 2006

Nice motor and welcome back !

I love hawkeyes...got one myself. The wheels look really good;) At first glance I thought yours was an RB320.

But to be honest, I would pick an FQ over a scooby anyday tbh, maybe with the exception of the RB320.
Plus, recaros are way better than the crappy seats in a scoob.

Buy some Recaros and put them in your Impreza then. You will then have the seat you like in a car that sounds better and has more character... ok, it might not look as good, but you can't see it from the inside anyway.

My wife loves the new scooby but never really got into the Evo despite me keeping it for 14 months. She said it sounded 'tinny, whiney and rough'! I even took mine into a ralliart dealer to get it checked out for whining... "they all sound like that sir! " Oh that's ok then. :)

I think the Evo has awesome handling and on the track in particular was superb, but all round not for me. Each to their own... Clarkey

Your not 'settling' for anything there... WRX imports are awesome esp at 22... I had an XR2i at 22! :lol1:

I do like the splitters. Whats' the ground clearance like once on? is it going to hit every speed bump around?! :) My mate has a supra, lowered etc... catches on everything at the front.

I have to watch out for high curbs but other than that I clear everything ok. I only have prodrive springs on though, so hardly lowered at all.
