£72 to renew my Passport!

Holy Cr4p!!!

Not sure how long you can have before a 'renewal' becomes a 'new application'? My Passport expired a few months ago.

For ever, as long as you still look the same.

A simple search found the following: Am I eligible for a renewal?. It seems as though you still need to pay the full fee though.

Cheers for that ... reading it it seems as though your likeness doesn't actually enter into the equation when renewing? A new photo could be used if it was signed by the appropriate level of person.

Well: when I visited the passport office in Liverpool last year, my easy and quick renewal was dependant on the clerks being able to recognise me from my 13yr old passport. This was to avoid the PITA of having photographs endorsed by Judges, JPs, members of the clergy etc.....

They had a difficult issue with certain new members of out community, working for the Royal Mail, who could spot a passport from 100 metres; which they then stole and sold on the black market. This was rife in London, with people becoming posties only in order to steal passports!

I'll know a bloke called Raj who'll get you one for £50...bargain

Jaybird-UK 18 July 2008 12:36 PM

£72 seems fine to me, thats just £7.20 per year - bargain!
