1997 Wagon tuning - ECU options
Hi all,
I own a 1997 WRX STI Import wagon. It has a Super Legalis R exhaust and a panel filter. I was looking at a Ninja 100 cell sports cat for it (on recommendation of peoplefrom this site from trawling through the threads!)...but also gather that I'd preferably need an remap with this sports cat to avoid possible engine damage. However, it seems that the ECU on my car cannot be remapped (ECUTek)...so what options do I have? I fancy the sports cat, but obviously dont want to risk damage tomy engine by running it with the sports cat and no remap. Help?! Thank You. |
I'm presuming an Apexi Power FC ECU replacement is the only sensible and reliable alternative?....Goodbye around £800 for that and a map!:(

i've had exactly the same dilema, i have run mine on the standard ecu with a complete decat exhaust with no problems for about 3 months, i am now awaiting delivery of a apexi (and a boost controller) due to changing to a vf22 turbo and 440 injectors. some advice get and fit everything you want before you go and map a new ecu otherwise its a remap every time you change something and at around £300 a pop it aint cheap.

Thanks.
Yep, only looking at a ninja sports cat, really. And then the Aprxi Power FC with a remap. |
Apexi PowerFC is ideal for that spec etc

Thanks Simon.
I've been on your site for a sneaky look at what you do...and have heard excellent things about you on here. So..when I do some saving, I'll be probably giving you a phone if I'm going down that route. Chris. |
remapping of the original 97/98 ecu is on it's way... so that maybe available by then :)

Excellent.
I'll give you a call when the time comes. Chris. |
Any idea when? ESL seem quiet slow with getting a board out?
:wonder: |
