As i am new to this, owning a turbo that is, I have got the bug for more power!!!
Along with the SS downpipe, WR sport b/box, TIG panel filter and dump valve, (future SS up-pipe and SS centre section). Is it save to up the boost? Will it make a big difference and if so how, what is a boost controller or do I stick with what I have and doing.

Any help would be great!

Good link. It seems Mr Croney is an advocate of them! I had believed all the stuff about dumping air already MAF metered. Seems this is a fallacy, and another Scoobynet myth to blow out the water. I love being wrong! :p :D :)

i'm using a full scoobysport turbo-back system with an ITG. just added a dawes device MBC and, even sticking with the stock boost, it feels an awful lot more responsive.
if you want it to feel really fast....
put the dawes on upside down....
and hope it doen't go bang b4 someone points out your mistake.

Why do you think you are wrong? The dumping of already metered air results in running rich, but this is exactly what Pete wants (flames :D :D :D) on overrun. However, as long as it seats properly the rest of the time, it doesn't give a disadvantage such as poor running.

It isn't what it "has" metered that gives the flames, it is what it continues to meter.

When lifting off at high revs, using a VTA, the turbo keeps spinning and some fresh air is drawn past the MAF. Not only is the turbo still pumping, but the air vents to atmo, instead of back into the intake pipe. With a recirc, this air which is returned to the intake stalls the airflowing towards the turbo. With a VTA, the air keeps moving, hence it being metered by the MAF.


The MAF, reading airflow, puts fuel into the engine.

The fuel passes through, unburnt as there is no oxygen present, but in a gas state and highly volatile due to the temperature in the cylinder/exhaust. As the gas reaches the end of the exhaust pipe, it meets oxygen from the air and ignites spontaneously. It is a burn rather than a bang, as the ratio of fuel to air is all wrong.

If the ISC opens the butterfly (99-) or the its internal valve (92-98) and lets some air in, the exhaust will pop in the manifold. Sounds great, but you rarely see flames with these pops as they are low energy and happen too far up the pipe. Again there isn't enough oxygen present for really big bangs.

Now the amount of oxygen that goes through when running anti lag is a different thing entirely :eek:

You could buy a Dawes in the group buy (be quick) or an electronic boost controller - MRT TMS1 is good value, HKS EVC IV is rated by many. Some use GReddy Profec B, Apexi AVC-R. Or you may want to wait for the upcoming Link ECU and get a proper remap. Scoobysport will keep you right on all your exhaust and filtration requirements.

Yeah, up the boost with an MBC, EBC or remap. If the DV vents to atmosphere you will be better off without it as it will make your car run stupidly rich and it will probably be slower not quicker. They are the Scooby equivalent of neons in a Nova. No offence ;)

I am ready with the asbestos suit if any of you want a shot with a flamethrower ;) :D
