Help - blown hid bulb ???

Just noticed tonight that one off my 8k hid headlamp bulbs has stopped working, it lights up initially as usual when you first turn on the lights but then goes out straight away.

lights have been fine for a good while since buying them in one off the group buys on here a while back, had a quick look tonight to see if there was anything obvious at fault other than the blown bulb but all connections etc appeared fine, am going to take the bulb from the working side tomorrow and see if it is working in the faulty side.

just wonder if anyone has experienced this particular problem with there aftermarket HID bulbs and if so if it is a sign that the bulb itself requires replacing ??

Best thing to try is swapping the bulbs over, which will tell you if it is the bulbs or not.

Not had a single bulb failure on any of our kits though, more likely to be the ballast.

All replacements parts are available and are in stock.

Cheers,

Bob

PS. Was it purchased from us or from a different GB?

Okay thanks mate appreciatte the advice, yep changed over the bulbs earlier tonight and the working bulb would not work on the faulty side so looks like it a faulty balast ??

did notice there was a bit off water around the area off the ballast so just wonder if water has indeed found it way inside the actual unit despite them being described as waterproof ??!!

the HID kit was purchased last year via a group buy, the company who were selling them were " Vision performance " am going to contact them via email tomorrow and see how I get on with regards the extended warranty ( 36 months ) that was part off the deal.

will let you know how I get on.

cheers

No worries.

Yep, sounds like the ballast.

Let me know if you get stuck.

Okay cheers mate appreciate that.

just wonder if a single ballast is the kinda thing that can normally be sold on its own if so any sort off idea on price ??

Your supplier should be able to replace the ballast easily enough.

If you get stuck send me a PM.
