Just thought I'd let you know that I got a letter from NavTrak today.

As of 11th Feb 2002 they will be charging NavTrak Proactive Users for false alarms.

It states

following a proactive alert a navtrak agent will contact the owner to confrim the status of the vehicle. If it is agreed by the owner the alert was a false alarm, this will be recorded on the navtrak system.

All proactivr users will be allowed, without penalty, up to 20 false alarms in a 12-month period.

All false alarms over 20 will be charged at a rate of £9.50 per alarm. Should any customer reach this situation, we will request a credit card number and charge that creditd card folowing any further false alarms

Failure to supply a credit card number, at that time, and agree to these charges will result in the proactive service being withdrawn

Not sure if I'm happy or unhappy about this.

Do the other tracker companies currently charge for false alarms?

As I said over in Security, 20 false alarms is plenty IMO.

Allows you to test it once every one or two months whilst still having a few spares left over.

oops! should have looked in secuirty! sorry, wrong forum, oops!

you're correct though, 20 a year is plenty, as my dad pointed out, you'd have to be setting it off about 2 a month, which unless you're stupid (me then! ;)) you should not do.
