Replacing a blown engine for a known good one?

Whats the average price to replace an Impreza engine?

I assume its cheaper for a straight swap than a repair?

Car is a MY99 and I'd just want to replace it with the same - nothing posh.

Can't do it myself and would prefer some sort of guarantee the engine is serviceable.

hiya mate,

I just had to replace my engine, and it cost £1200, I bought the engine for £700 from yorkshire with delivery to location of my choice, they also offered 30 days warranty on any water/oil leaks and a start up warranty? They do not garuntee the engine against it blown etc once it is fitted due to the nature of them, and it could be down to driver rather engine that it blows again. I am well happy with the engine provided and i even got the more powerful 265 bhp engine with most fittings. The garage I took the vehicle to was called reads racing in Newport Gwent and they charge £500 for fitting, but with this I had the full service. New cambelt, Plugs and all auxilery belts and oil. Thought I did have to by the service parts but well worth it as the cam belt service is normally worth over £300 and the engine is out so easy enough for them to do, If you want any numbers to contact for the engine or the like let me know and ill see if I can find them again. Best of luck
