Nat 03 July 2008 03:35 PM

Yeah it's well documented how AD is being left to rot in NYC  Well done BA, great place to give one too

Is this the Concorde that is usually on an aircraft carrier along with other aircraft? If so then is it still on active display as I thought the location was closed due to renovation, which could explain why it's looking so sorry for itself. Then again, it could just be a case of them not giving a damn.

** edit **
It seems AD is usually found on it's own barge next to the USS Intrepid, which is the carrier that has other planes on it's flight deck in NYC. From what I read it was moved in 2006 to Floyd Bennett Field which was to be it's temporary home whilst renovations are carried out to the Hudson River pier. Date for the return of Intrepid is meant to be October 2nd and will re-open on November 8th. Looking at the timeline here it seems Concorde will have a new home on the pier, rather than on a dock. So fingers crossed she's going to be given some TLC prior to the move.

Concorde didn't have flaps. The huge delta wing provided lift and drag, pitching the aircraft up produced drag, slowing the plane. :D

Planning permission was granted a few weeks ago, so hopefully they'll start soon.

Manchester Airport : Concorde £1 million super hangar gets green light

I've seen the pictures of it and it looks good, with a vistors centre, conference room, cafe and auditorium.

Ive been to see the Concorde parked up in Barbados. It opened to the public late last year, and is an excellent visit.

They have a light show and makes a great half day out !

Off to dig up some of my photos of it

BULLITT 03 July 2008 06:46 PM

I've been to the Manchester one, we did the full technical tour and it was brilliant! Got a sense that the guys doing the tours are very passionate about Concorde.
