They are good all round cars. I changed mine for an STi, and whilst the WRX hasnt got the same performance, from a day to day point of view it was easier to live with. A good balance between performance and comfort. Also practical with family etc. Not that you would prise my STi away from me now!. Fairly easy to mod to 300, with a few exhaust bits and a remap.

Well I like mine mate. It does about 240 miles (normally) to 300 miles (motorway) per tank (just under £60). Makes me smile when I floor it too.
To get 300hp you would need to change the turbo, exhaust and get a remap.
Everyone says the WRX is a good all rounder. One review said the PPP'd version was better on a daily basis than an STI :norty: Plus you'll save quite a bit on tax and insurance over the STI.
What are you driving at the moment?

I use mine as an everyday car and find it as easy to live with as any 'normal' car. This is why I went for a WRX over an STi. (And the fact it is cheaper to buy, run, tax and insure.)

I got to 280ish bhp quite easily, 300 will take a little more work.

If you can live with 25-28mpg, then nothing else will shock you. Have it serviced by a good specialist and it won't cost much more to service than your typical hot hatch.

I can't think of anything I'd rather have that can do what my car can.

Nice one! While you are looking look for the PPP ones, they have an extra 40hp.

Prodrive Performance Pack, it's an extra 40hp (cat back exhaust and remap) and it would have cost the original owner around £1600 from Subaru but normally only adds a few hundred to the second hand price.

Thats a good point. well worth looking for one with PPP as you wont really pay much more for it 2nd hand, and it does transform the car. Alternatively you could get ppp added, but its still costly. When I got a quote it didnt alter my insurance much, and it doesnt make any difference to economy either.
