CONDENSATION IN HEADLIGHT!!!!

Hi guys

I have a 53 sti and Im really annoyed to find the drivers side headlight has started to condensate and is getting worse.....

Any suggestions on why this happens and more importantly how to get rid of it??

I was told the seal around the headlight may have a gap in it

Can someone please shed some light on it.

Thanx

Probably the seal gone. You'll have top remove it to check, but it can be resealed. Personally I'd use Sika-flex, or windscreen sealant.

Once you know where it's getting in, and have sealed it, remove the bulb and put the headlight unit in the airing cupboard overnight. Then, take it out and put it in the freezer, bulb-fitting upwards, but no bulb, for about 8 hours, before refitting it. Make sure that any cover over the bulb is properly fitted when it goes back together.

What I've done on other cars is remove the light off the car, take the bulbs out and put it on the radiator to dry...bulb holes facing upwards.

If I can't get all the moisture out then I blow through the bulb holes with a hair dryer (not too close - it can melt the plastic) to encourage some fresh dry air flowing in there.

Aferwards, I go round all the seals of the light lens with silcone sealer.

Search for the 'detango' advice about how to remove, open up and re-seal headlights.
