Diesel Tuning

Afternoon all.

I am thinking of getting the gilfriends diesel clio tuned up as i may be using it for work soon.

Has anyone had any dealings with the company on the link below?. They seem significantly cheaper but claim a huge power increase. Probably cheaper as they send you the kit.

Renault Diesel Tuning Performance No1

Dont mind doing this myself but considering everywhere else is quoting upwards of £390 is there something i am missing.

Thanks in advance
Dave

just as well they claim you get 1 years engine warranty then.

am I missing something here? why on earth would you bother to tune a small french diesel car???

I tuned a small Czechoslovakian diesel car :D Frightens Scoobs on track :lol1:

I just don't see the 86bhp 1.5tdi remapping to 155bhp! (as the website on the link claims) Thats an 80% power increase!

If it really did increase that much, then you'd want to be ditching the skinny tyres, soft standard suspension and little brakes - but in reality I think it might map to around 100bhp or so, but not much more.

I hear the bump-steer mod resolves this issue for the Scoob somewhat ;)

Understeer isn't a problem. Wet weather yes, the Scoob obliterate me then !

I haven't looked at the link, but +80% is unrealistic. With an intake mod, filter and bespoke RR remap mine went from 130 to 180bhp and 228 to 312 lb/ft on Jabba's optimistic rollers, so about 38% overall.

Yes it does sound iffy, the VW PD is generally the engine which you get the biggest gains on, should have bought one myself.

Still, if its correct, performance bargain of the century at 295 quid.

My mates lad had one (Clio DCI), chipped it, melted a piston, apparently prone to it.

Quick google, and clearly they mean 105bhp, not 155bhp! so in reality probably about 100 - that sounds about right :)

Have a look here:-

Diesel Tuning by Dragon Performance UK more diesel performance power and torque

I've used their boxes on a Fabia vRS and Colt DI-D, both times with great results.

i thought it sounded suspect, 100bhp seemed about right. still maybe worth a thought.
can leave the other car for weekends or trackdays then i guess.

just considering the fuel prices flying up i thought it might be a good option as the mrs probably wont be using it much for the next year or so.
