Anyone knows this car?shall i buy it?

hi guys, was looking on ebay and came across this nice scooby:

1994 SUBARU IMPREZA CHEAP INSURANCE on eBay, also, Subaru, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 28-Jun-08 20:36:09 BST)

i am really getting tempted , cuz it is a 1.6 on the logbook (cheap insurance and tax ) and it looks really mint to me with a new rebuilt engine on it and i guess it has been well looked after, well i am not sure yet (asked the owner about HPI and if it was damaged, no reply yet)

so what do you guys think? anyone knows the car????

isn't it abit too pricy???

what other things should i look for to make sure it is the right car?

please give me some advice as i want to go and view the car soon

cheers

Seems very pricey to me. Have a look in the insurance section on the forum and give Keith Michaels a ring on here, I think.

Apparently very cheap, but you've got to make sure you speak to him.

If anything it will cost you more for insurance. The modifications, which you have to declare, will put the insurance through the roof. It's a 1.6 GL honest, but it's got full WRX running gear, engine, turbo, etc.

Buy an unmolested UK specification Classic if you want cheaper insurance on a turbo.

he wont touch ya not now uve listed it on here its a 2.0 modded but says 1.6 on logbook lol

NorthDownsScooby 19 June 2008 09:58 AM

Window tints are too dark so wouldn't (shouldn't) pass an MOT.

Mikkel 19 June 2008 10:02 AM

Nice looking car but it is far too pricey IMO.

wrong, front windows need to let at least 70% of light through. If they don't its a fixed penalty and the cops can seize your car :thumb:

steve you beat me to it :p

a lot of imports have the wrong vehicle details on the log book, will be helpful for mot but nothing else. The car needs to be insured as an import wrx 2.0

Cant see the link from work but a 1994 car in reality shouldnt be paying more than 2k tops for a vg condition.

(bearing in mind there are uk 1999 models on here for sale for 3 - 3.5k )

jiffthejiffmanjaffa 19 June 2008 10:55 AM

Agree too much money. I boughtmine a year ago for £3k, and it is as good, if not better.

Insurance needs to be opn the correct model, if not, you not insured. If and when you get in an accident, they won't pay out and could report you to the old bill. Its really not worth it.

20withascooby 19 June 2008 11:32 AM

the police can but go to a mot station and ask em wt the policy is on window tints if u have your windows down they dont do em up to look do they nope, dont see them testing with a light meter nope asked 5 diff places down here all said theres nuthing in the book that says about window tints only about sunstrips

Marx Mcrae 19 June 2008 11:35 AM

Way too expensive.
Why spend all that money to convert a 1.6 to a WRX when it would be cheaper to buy a wrx in the first place.

You are not allowed any tints AT ALL on the front windows, if a garage is offering to do this then they are doing so illigally!!

20withascooby 19 June 2008 11:37 AM

then all the garages in that i went to in kent must be then lol

lol, you can try an avoid it as much as you want but they are still illegal if they don't allow at least 70% of light through and can lead to being issued point and a fine or your car be seized...you pays your money and makes your choice :lol1:

20withascooby 19 June 2008 11:43 AM

sat alongside and behind many police never said anything went thru mot no questions

it wont be a converted 1.6 A lot of imports were classed as 1.6 when imported because there was no turbo model on the uk listings or something like that.

You are allowed tints on the front side windows, but they have to let xx% of light through (think someone mentioned 70%)
The windscreen however is a different story :thumb:

Well done, you have been lucky so far...doesn't change the law though and they are excuse to pull you over, then if it takes them the cops can do an extensive check on your car; do you have a cat fitted? are all your mods declared?

As I said, you pays your money and makes your choice :p

2WD 1600cc? If/when you have an accident, youll find yourself with nothing more than 3rd party cover...

yep, ta thats the one :thumb:

Have to be honest I don't know if you do need a cat, I was just using a common non-compliance as an example...so all your colour coding, rear lights, splitter etc are declared then?
