Dump valve problem

Ive got a classic wrx, had a forge dump valve fitted, but only seams to dump when your really reving the car hard 5-6000rpm, ive heard other classics dump at really low revs. Any ideas, ive checked all the pipes and theres no leaks or anything, im wondering if the dump valve spring is too strong. Im running standard boost 14psi. cheers

Mine dumps anywhere after about 3-3.5k rpm on my 96 classic with a Forge BOV. Sounds silly but is it definitely connected in right, no splits or leaks on the pipes?

sounds like you have the red spring in your dumpvalve, I also have a forge with a red spring, which is meant to hold the boost better (so I've been told) which means you wont get a big noise unless you are at high revs. There is a yellow spring which will 'dump' at lower revs but may not hold the boost as well

Yeah checked and deffo no splits or leaks, i think it has the red spring in, how do u go about getting a yellow spring? any idea of cost? cheers

mines a forge on my 97 uk turo also....did have a crap make on before that which wasnt loud, put the forge on and actually got annoyed how often and loud it went off at low revs, lol. not sure what colour my spring is tho mate. although on the crap dump valve i had, i shortended the spring in that, to make it louder. not tellin u to go cut it or anything, but to take it apart im sure its the same, with the screws around the outside casing. try swapping with someone on here with a red sprung forge??

so would installing a softer spring to get an earlier dump, reduce pressure slow the car down?

Full service kit under £20 with a range of springs shims and grease....

Sounds like the spring to me, don't go by what the forge website states about psi rating for the diff colour springs, this caught me out. Get yourself a service pack from forge as this helps and swop the springs over to what suits your car:thumb:
