Go Karting
 

Me and my mate are thinking of getting into go karting but are unsure of the running costs and price to enter into a season, does anyone on here do this sort of thing and can give me some advise on how to go about starting out. Any good websites would go down well. :)

We want to buy our own karts though, we've found a few tracks where a days karting can be as little as £20 for the day to practice inbetween public races. We want our own karts as we want the satisfaction of tuning them ourselves, we don' know what we're doing but thats the fun of it !!

Tuning, as in enhancing engine performance, is illegal.

If you just want a bit of fun, arrive and drive is the cheapest way. If you want to get more serious, Club 100 as mentioned above is a good outfit. Have a look at UK Karting - www.karting.co.uk

If you want to bankrupt yourselves, then get your own karts (preferably two each) a motor or three, trailer, awning, a mountain of tools and spares and be prepared to get thrashed by kids with rich dads.

It is an expensive sport if you race, but if you are going to just test at tracks on non race days then you can keep the costs down. Bear in mind you will need to spend several hundred pounds on racewear, gloves, helmet, suit, boots etc. You need to think about your budget for the kart itself, if you have a large amount to spend up front but want cheaper running costs then rotax max or easykart 125 may be an option. (kart cost 1200-2k)m if you want cheaper kart costs but quicker rebuild times on the engine hence higher running costs then tkm may be an option for you. You can get tkm outfits for sub 1k easily.
