Xbox360 collected for repair !

Mark this date on your calendars my "modded" 360 has been collected by M$ for a free repair !!

Red rings I hear you ask ?

No freezing.. but I told them its intermittent red ring and they said ok

Launch day machine so I've done well !!

messiah 12 June 2008 01:16 PM

"modded" you say?

AFAIK, they'll take no notice of it anyway, RROD usually just means they put it one side and grab a refurb off the shelf to send back...

Iain Young 12 June 2008 01:20 PM

The last couple I've had "fixed" have been just that (i.e. fixed). The same unit was returned (same serial, same scratch from when they repaired it the time before etc)...

pimmo2000 12 June 2008 02:09 PM

I'm fine with that ... they don't normally care if its modded .. offically they do but the Monkeys in the office just swap it out ..

Fingers crossed.. UPS just picked it up

pimmo2000 12 June 2008 02:09 PM

No. It's from the date of purchase

RB5SCOTT 12 June 2008 03:29 PM

I thought i was doing quite well with my launch 360 but this time last year it died, sent it back and got it back. Died again the other week. I just threw it in the bin and bought an Elite. Its quite shocking when you think about it, i'm paying for microsoft's shoddy workmanship :D But the real nail in the coffin was that the Elite only comes with a years warranty. Microsoft want you to buy the further 2 years warranty, cheeky fcukers

Its 3 years for RROD and 1 year for everything else AFAIK.

Just got mine back, sixty quid later, MB and DVD replaced, plus the front as well as the spring on the usb cover had gone, not tired it yet as I bought an arcade in the meantime.

£60 for what ?

Did they pre-warn you about the charge ?

Yes, mine wasnt doing the RROD so it was chargeable, it was just not displaying any picture, tried everything to no avail, should have done the twoel trick apoparently to force RROD and save 60 quid.

Oh well, live and learn, now have two 360's, not really worth flogging seeing as it owes me £60 and the kids have nicked the controller from the new one, and the memory card, whats a box on its own worth £80/£100 ?

Last time I sent one back to MS, UPS delivered it next day, but the MS website took nearly 2 weeks to acknowledge that it had been delivered. In fact it went from delivered to dispatched on the same day. It then took another week to arrive..

If it dies within the first 12 months you can take back to the shop mate...

Iain Young 21 June 2008 10:49 AM

Unless you get it from Gameplay. My mums Elite dies after only 2 months. They would only take it back / exchange it if Microsoft refused to fix it :(

Needless to say, I'm never getting anything from there again. Shockingly bad customer service...

Isn't it a legal requirement ?

Iain Young 22 June 2008 09:48 AM

That's what I thought, but they were having none of it. Got to the point where I would have to take them to court to get them to do anything, and to be honest it wasn't worth it. Considering I used to get all my stuff from them, they've lost a fairly good customer...
