Power Caps and Power supply

Hi guys,

I've got an audioleads 1.5 farad powercap which has done me proud.

I'm in the process of doing a diffent ICE install, and in taking all my equipment out of the boot I made a big mistake.

I was undoing the nut on the top of the power cap and I accidentally touched the spanner between the two terminals, bang!!!! Bugger.

Guess what?! Now the power cap doesn't work. Anyone know a way of fixing it? I was told them was as internal fuse but I've no idea.

I thinking I'm gonna have to buy a new one, what sort Farad should I get. When got mine before 1.5 was about the biggest you could get. Now I see they go upto 10 farads.

I'm getting a yellow top battery, so I was thinking a 1.5 to 2 farad would be more than enough, as I don't see that I would suffer verymuch power drain.

Opinons?

depend if using for 1 sub or 2 ..1 sub will only need 1 or 1.5 farad

I'm not sure what you mean? I've put a tester on it and theres no charge at all.

I'll wire it back in and see if the remote wire turns it on and it starts charging up again. It may still be working I guess, I just presumed.

I'm running two Cerwin Vega 12'' 400watt subs.

scoobynewbie72 you are a legand. Power is fine!!! I can't beleive it, it gave me such a shock and they was one hell of a bang.

But it turned up and ran up to14 volts in an instance.

I've had it checked out on a volt and amp meter and there is no damage at all.

I went down to my local stereo shop and they advised me that the Power cap I have, has built in protection for such an occurance.

Thanks god for that, did fancy spending out on another power cap.
