what are the other 2 bits next to the boost controller

what are the other 2 bits next to the boost controller on a 95WRX???
the brown/orange piece, above it with a 2wire connector, one pipe to the manifold, one to a black box...
and what is the black box??? three wires.. what does it do... is it the boost pressure monitor?? can it be tested.
I'm having problems with the fuel cut coming in way early, what monitors the boost pressure, do they fail??
all of the hoses appear to be ok..

any help please..:wonder:

Can no body shed some light on what these bits do :brickwall

I've borrowed the picture from another post, hope you dont mind..

One of them is the MAP sensor that is used to trigger the overboost fuel cut (amongst other things), thats the one with the pipe to the manifold and probably the three wires, the other is probably the purge control valve with 2 wires, but yours is a bit different to my 99MY so can't be too exact!

One person I know of advocates pulling the vac line from the MAP sensor to disable the fuel cut, personally I wouldn't but as a test for you it may be an idea!

MAP sensor is top left, used by the ECU to measure pressure in the inlet manifold.

Device above the boost control solenoid is the pressure exchange solenoid, it is triggered under certain conditions by the ECU to allow it to also sample atmospheric pressure (through the small cylindrical filter on the left) using the MAP sensor.

:luxhello: :luxhello: Thank you ....
at last an answer.. :notworthy
the black box is the MAP monitor..
so if i'm right, if i unplug the pipe, the fuel cut off will not work, so I'll be able to see if it's the fuel cut off cutting in early, or something else..
perhaps my coil packs giving up...:notworthy
