Changing Rear Diff

This happened to me today whilst I was trying to fit a diff cover...

I've tried to drill it out and re-tap the hole, but no joy, the case seems to hard to tap for some reason.

Any one any ideas how much a second hand rear diff will cost, and also how easy is it to fit. I've got some ramps but they'll be no use if I need to take the wheels off. Can I get the driveshafts out without removing the wheels?:(

Does anyone know of a fitting guide for the rear diff:thumb:

Cheers

Jon

iv just changed the gearbox and rear diff on my car, not a very simple job, youl have to have it on axle stands, remove prop shaft, remove the front diff guards on rear diff undo hub nuts remove one of the hubs, undo the mounting bolts and then wiggle:freak3: out the diff with the drifeshafts, not the easiest thing in the world but not to hard,if you get the code of the diff iv got one sitting in my front shed off a uk 2000 turb classic with drive shafts and prop.:thumb:
