Scooby Net, What Does That Really Mean?

This is not a trick question.

I have been on this Site for a little while now and, to be fair, like all Sites you have your good and bad days and, in the main, I find it helpful, especially with the charchacters and stuff.

However, I've noticed a bit of a slant towards Imprezas.

EG, "What Scooby do you Drive?"

You go on to poll & it asks, what Impreza do you have? etc.

Is this the Scooby Net, as in ALL Subarus, be it Justy, Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Forester??

If it is the Impreza Net, then it should be made clear.

Think about it, if you had an Impreza and, all the posts were about Legacy's etc, how would you feel?

Also, SN Moderators n' stuff, can we have clarification as to what this Site is all about?

Thanks.

By the way, I have 2 Foresters.

Regards

Probably as more Impreza's are sold to enthusiasts rather than foresters. The chance that 90% of Subaru owners on here are high.

tolster 08 June 2008 08:02 PM

dont take it too seriously:thumb:

The Rig 08 June 2008 08:05 PM

the term "scooby" is 99% associated with the impreza, hence scoobynet

Mikkel 08 June 2008 08:09 PM

Agreed "scooby" is synonymous with the Impreza despite being coined around the name of the manufacturer.

Gerry M 08 June 2008 08:14 PM

Was going to say scooby was a term used for subaru originally, not impreza.

But I can see alan's point it is called scoobynet althou there are other subarus here it caters more towards the majority, which are impreza's of some description or another.

rbaz 08 June 2008 08:26 PM

If you feel left out you could always start a "what Forester do you drive" thread :lol1:

But the Impreza guys might feel left out then :(
But hey IMO a Scooby is a Scooby what ever model it is :thumb:

what would scooby do 08 June 2008 08:27 PM

scooby=subaru (not impreza)

as in scooby doo rhyming with subaru

otherwise this forum would be called something like lezzanet.com ;)

bluenose172 08 June 2008 08:30 PM

Scooby=Impreza, end of thread!

what would scooby do 08 June 2008 08:33 PM

I can feel my IQ been sapped here...

:D

Alan MaC 08 June 2008 08:36 PM

Thanks for the posts, supporting that no matter waht Subaru you drive, they are ALL Scoobs.

It would be intesting if the SN Managaement would offer an opinion??

I come from way, way back in the beginning ....

Due to the Gold Wheels which were all the rage at that time SN started as 'Bent Cos Yo' BBS ......... when people objected the Webmaster of that time was Infracted and banned.

An Anagram of 'Bent Cos Yo' is 'Scoobynet' ...... and here we are now :D

And that's a true story :lol1:

superstar1 08 June 2008 09:04 PM

Think it was the Impreza that put the Subaru brand on the map. you not trying to say that scoobynet came into being because of the Justy are you???

The Rig 08 June 2008 09:13 PM

The impreza is the only desired subaru, why dont they rally legacy`s ?

ah yes,thats why........

scooby is an impreza, go upto anyone and say i own a scooby, then ask them what model they think it is....

Three points -

1. Colin McRae won his first rally in a Legacy
2. The new Impreza is a total dogs dinner compared to the Legacy
3. No I don't have a legacy ;)

P.S. Agree that if someone says Scoob that it does mean the Impreza :)

DYK 08 June 2008 09:21 PM

as said already, before the impreza came out, subaru were really a nobody in the car industry..they actually started in the Aviation industry..But because of the impreza and the world rally, with the late colin mcrae (God Bless) putting subaru on the map,in the early 90's..It basically started from the impreza range m8...

El Cat 08 June 2008 09:30 PM

point to mention
if they didnr ally the LEGACY then none of us would be driving the quality imprezas we all know have so id be grateful to the the legacy is A LEGACY in more ways than one the impreza is the legacys legacy!

Number 1 isn't true, McRae first won in a Justy, and scoobynet was nearly called justynet but then they brought out the Forrester, so they called it forresternet, but that did'nt seem right. But when the Impreza came out (which is basically a stretch Justy) they decided to call it scoobynet because people could'nt spell IMPRZZIA, IMPREZZA, IMPPREZA ( see what i mean).
I think you will all find that this is the correct story;)

DYK 08 June 2008 09:39 PM

So where do you think it's gone wrong for subaru lately. It has gone a little side tracked over the last two three years..ok mcrae left and went to ford.Burns sadly passed away,so subaru has gone through a rough patch in the last few years..you cant say that petter dont put his heart and soul into racing..ive seen the guy race, and he is dedicated..It always seems that the car lets him down in some way..

Alan MaC 08 June 2008 10:03 PM

As has been posted, Colin raced other Subarus, Legacy, ( I don't know about the Justy).

To me it is all about SUBARUS, no matter what Model.

It is the Colin Convoy in August, It will be intersting to se what different models are there.

Regards.

The section on this site entitled "ScoobyNews" contains articles about ALL Subarus for reference - Foresters, Legacys, the lot. I guess that shows what the site owners think.

Scooby is a chav term for a Subaru Impreza as far as I'm concerned.

..it may have been a coolish tag 10 years ago or so,but now it's so totally lame it just makes me cringehttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...adbanana-1.gif

Agreed, except it was never cool... let's be honest.

Now it's kind of amusing that a community can laugh at itself in a cheesey sort of way. Come on, nobody takes the term seriously do they... lol

GC8 08 June 2008 11:02 PM

SN is about advertising revenue. What it used to be is of little consequence now: the user profile has changed beyond all recognition.

Shame you have all been blanked from post 13, as it gives the definitive answer :D

Awaits Infraction :D

Abdabz 09 June 2008 09:04 AM

It is actually for Justy owners only, but you lot are all bullies...

....pslewis.... 09 June 2008 09:10 AM

Is it a Justy or a Suzuki Swift?

What came first?

GC8 09 June 2008 09:20 AM

Where is post #13 Pierre; where do all of your posts go...?

The rookie 09 June 2008 12:52 PM

WTF...

Subaru came to prominance with the launch of the Legacy, for those of you old enough to remember it, before that they were worthy but dull farmers car with the out of kilter with the rest of the range, but very low powered, turbo's as a sideline.

Look at the reviews and the percieved re-launch of Subaru in rallying with the Legacy in 1990, a completely all new car/engine/chassis vehicle that moved subaru into a new market segment for them.....later came the Impreza as a smaller, narrower and HEAVIER Legacy QC turb, now extract crania from cavity and engage brain!
