I'm just about happy with the layout of the screen and icons (got to say Windows 2000 looked much better)but there are still 2 things that I can't seem to improve:

- The text on web pages is so miniscule you can't read it. I've tried 'View, Text Size, Largest etc' and it makes no difference.

- The text size in program dialogue boxes is also painfully small. For instance, when you get the dial-up networking dialogue box come up, it's hard to read the names of the individual account users. I've been right through the advanced settings in screen properties and changed everything to the biggest font szie available but still no joy.

Any ideas before I load up an earlier version of Windows on my PC?

Cheers

Have you tried selecting other Schemes to see if that makes a difference ? :)

You could always *upgrade* back to W2K like I did. Stuck it out with XP for 3 weeks, but it was just so ssssslllllloooowwwwww. Insert CD; boot; format c:

Sorted all my problems out :)

Have you reverted the visual settings back to 2000 style yet?

DazV 01 February 2002 01:12 PM

Yeah, for once Mr Footlong is RIGHT - revert to Win2000 scheme, which looks exactly the same as your old setup.

WinXP I find is extremely good, but I run with 512MB of RAM which it does actually use. I had a problem with one of my 256MB Dimms, so I removed it, leaving my system with 256MB of RAM and things got a little jerky with games.

Its inevitable you'll have to move to WinXP at some point in the future, so you better splash the cash for some more RAM.

Mt text size changes when i hold down Ctrl Key and scroll up and down with my wheel mouse.
Not sure how you do it without a wheel mouse !!!

Hope that helps

Dav, what on earth do you mean for once I am right?

You had better have a good reason for posting that mate, as I really am not in the mood today for completely unjustified lame-ass comments....

Cheers,

Nick.

Mr Footlong

Please tell me more.

How do I revert my PC to look like Win2000 settings?

Cheers
Kav

Mr Footlong 01 February 2002 09:54 PM

1st off, right click on the taskbar and select properties. This will bring up taskbar and start menu properties. Click the start menu tab and select classic start menu. Click customize and make sure that the extra things that you want are ticked. This will bring your normal desktop back too.
Next off, right click on my computer and select properties. click advanced, then the settings button under performance section. Here, I recommend click adjust for best performance, then tick the bottom three tick boxes. This will give you tranparent titles on desktop icons, a mildly xp'd look and commone task/info within folders.

That should be you done!

Cheers,

Nick:)

Seems to me that most peeps on here spend a lot more time trying to make their car go faster than they do their OS???

GO FASTER STRIPES FOR XP
As above, revert to 2000 settings.
Change performance setting to best in system properties, advanced
Disable system restore and hibernate if you don't need them
