no water Pro Shine car cleaning.... I've now tried it

I had to buy some of the PRO SHINE car polish.
They say untill you try it you can't believe it.

http://www.idealworld.tv/ProdImages/detl/715%20745.jpg

The idea is you can wash/polish yor cra without using water to wash it.
You spray it on, wipe off the muck, then with another clen cloth polish the same area.

now, that all sounds too good to be true!!??

So today it arrived, tonight/this eeving i had to try it.

My car's not been washed for 6 weeks and I don't think it's been polished since the Donny show.... 2006

here goes.

before...

The mud on the wheel arches was hard on, it say heavy soiled cars should be pre cleaned.... but not with water!! I think it would be better ifI'd rinsed it off first. It did come off with the spray but took a couple of goes.

dirty inside door sill

sprayed then wiped
https://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e...a/DSC00041.jpg

now all clean and shinny
https://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e...a/DSC00042.jpg

I carried on with all the rest of the car. :)

THE VERDICT.............
i'm very impressed to say the car was dirty, only took me 20mins to go over the whole car, I would next time wash over the car with warm water to get rid of any of the main dirt. BUT found this polish great. Its easy to apply, easy to polish off. A fab result. It's a brill product to take to car shows when you need a quick clean and a polish.

It didn't feel as if it were scratching the car as I wiped the muck off.
I also didn't useit on my plastic wheel tris as they were grubby and didn't want to waste the polish on them.

Anyone thinking ...shall I get some.... get some, you'll be pleased with the quick results you can get. This weekend I'm trying it on Jo's FORD FOCUS and my Smart ROADSTER (this is regularly polished, so will be interested to see how it comes it) Will defo be using it at shows.

Now the next test is go to a petrol station and under the lights how does it look - Im gessing its marred to death but I might be wrong

that microfibre cloth made me cringe

DarrenSTI 06 June 2008 12:47 PM

Don't really fancy washing the car without water, do you not just rub in the dirty before it comes off! Comment as above, might be ok after a wash when the car is pretty clean.

You need to do one final test; as suggested above, it would be very wise to check the paint under either artificial lighting or direct full sun conditions, to confirm whether the process marred the finish and inflicted fine scratches. I would be amazed if it didn't. :)

salsa-king 06 June 2008 01:54 PM

being a plastic car, its full of those fine polish swirl scratches anyway. But will give it a look under artificial light... I'll drive it in my kitchen.

but you know the stuff works ;)

Well I wouldn’t try that with any of my cars or even my quad there is no way that it can remove dirt with out damaging the paint

Tim Bomford 07 June 2008 09:37 PM

Looks good Phil, and I'm amazed you found a pic of Clark (PB) using it;)
I for one would be loathed to use it, especially on mud/properly dirty car and would like to see the effects on your paint!

used it yesterday on my sister in laws M-reg astra, a car thats never seen a wash wax to clean it let alone a full car wax. I don't think it would have been clean properly since she's had the car (3years)
I qickly washed the car with a bucket of fairy water, allowed to dry, then used the Pro Shine as a normal polish. wipe on, wipe off

car looks brill, to say I'd not tried too hard the results are fab. the glass comes up so clear with it too.

Also did the same to my wifes ford focus, again, its easy to put on and wipe off. car looks like new again. well pleased and browny points awarded. :)

Clarkie172 08 June 2008 10:41 AM

I wouldn't DARE try it

salsa-king 08 June 2008 10:53 PM

done my car today after a quick wash yesterday, again dead chuffed with the results, no swirls on my paint work that I can see and I look hard!

what do you think now?

scoobyverysoon 08 June 2008 11:35 PM

Halogen light test to prove no marring im not convinced, most cars look fine in natural light

Get the old light whipped out like so

SwissTony 09 June 2008 11:15 AM

Phil
You have to convince us sceptical lot first by doing the artificial light test.
If that passes muster, we shall stop calling you a loon :D

+Doc+ 09 June 2008 01:59 PM

Might get some.....for the push bike :D

Clark @ PB 10 June 2008 01:42 PM

I would love to take a sun gun to that car, there is no way that product is safe for your paint - in my opinion anyways... ;)

Plastic cars don't feature swirls as standard - plastic panels can and should look just like metal panels in terms of paint condition. Until we see pictures confirming paint condition then this product cannot be deemed safe. We've got a large selection of highly lubricated quick detailers in our store, and yet I would not recommend one of them for this type of cleaning, as you cannot lubricate enough to stop particles of dust and dirt from scratching when you wipe them off with a towel. When I rewrite the advice guides on our site in a few months time, all support of quick detailing and waterless washing will be removed, as it's just not safe in my humble opinion. Yes it will clean and give a great shine, but at what cost to underlying paint condition?

Topaz 25 March 2009 01:59 AM

Not caustic ?

They say it i not caustic by i have heard that someone got some on his hands. Anasty rash appeared and a trip to the doctor was needed. Maybe he had sensitive skin ? But the paint work on his car started to fade shortly after.

Just what i heard but i am not going anyway near that Pro Shine stuff.

StickyMicky 25 March 2009 07:20 AM

A trip to the docs because of a rash on the hand??

what kind of southern pussy does that?

i hope it was a woman ;)
when i was a young pup "valeter" in my "yoof" my hands used to get battered due to various constant chemicals on them, a few times i started bleeding from my pores  :lol1: would have loved a nice simple rash :D

regardless, although i understand how this waterless stuff is supposed to work and "be safe" towards paint, i don't believe it works either, at least not in the way its marketed as "safe"

salsa-king 25 March 2009 08:05 AM

ire did my 4/2 Smart a week last friday, washed it first then dried it off then ProShined it... came up great.... again all polshed in about under 30mins. :)

My car must be more or less swirl free cause i cant see anything from my hand held halogen like that :o
If I catch the light right on my fluro's i can see some rid's and defects, looks like I need a sun gun as the garage forecourt lights show up a lot more.

salsa-king 26 March 2009 12:17 AM

would be interst to see how the 'rust' and 'pits' on the door handles polish up ;)

scoobyschef 26 March 2009 12:59 AM

can you wash your face with no water

jim

salsa-king 26 March 2009 08:02 AM
